We had neighbors in SC who homeschooled their kids to keep them from being corrupted by the heathens in the public school system. Part of the teachings were religion based and part were conspiracy theory based.

The mother of these kids was a real bitch who thought she was superior to everyone around her. It later came out that the husband had a well concealed son much older than the kids my neighbors had together.

The younger two kids were social misfits who couldn't even play without issue with the neighborhood kids. The oldest of the three went off to a typically post home school college and promptly found the allure of alcohol and unprotected sex. After the surprise big brother and the surprise baby of the perfect child came to be public knowledge not only did the family move but the mother/mother-in-law down the street also moved.

How the kids did academically I don't know. How they did with social skills and street smarts was pretty obvious.

And to avoid diversity of any kind. If the internet is making things better for some kids its not helping those that aren't allowed to access it.

Yeah that's a thing. Not just allowed acces, but possible access. Home schooled kids are often rural kids, and rural internet is...spotty. I'm getting about 1mbps non-los through the foliage. Losing connection while I type.....so...obviously, the big lego downloads are crawling. Takes all day to get the instructions to build a 40min model.

We get alot more done when the trees are bare.

Heh, I'm a member of some woodworking forums, and a guy posted a silhouette of a woman like you see on truck mudflaps, but painted pink like most women aren't. Some guy got all sideways about how his 12 year old son visited that site. I 'splained that his son has seen far more than a silhouette of a naked lady if he's ever been on the internet.

No, to my cousins. I know one kid that was homeschooled and has three Ph.Ds. now. His parents and older siblings taught him. Scary bunch. But they're the exceptions.

One would think after 2 PhDs it is time to prove the real world didn’t make a mistake.

He spent a lot of time in a vortex lab, so I don't know if the real world ever intruded on him.
