In related news, Gregg Abbot gave two wildly antithetical speeches in response to the shooting. Telling people in Uvalde in person that they should absolutely expect new laws to come from this….and in a prerecorded message to the NRA in Houston that absolutely no laws will come of this.

The guy who took the monster down was a border contol agent Jacob Albarado who was getting a hairciut when he got a text from his wife, a schoolteacher at the school, they had an active shooter. He grabbed the barber' s shotgun and rushed to the school.
I find the words of the guy who solves a problem carries more weight than know it all armchair quarterbacks..

Canada should introduce a total ban on the buying and selling of all handguns, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has said.
His government is proposing a new law that would freeze private ownership of all short-barrelled firearms.
The legislation would not ban the ownership of handguns outright - but would make it illegal to buy them.

I just don't see why any civilian needs to own an assault-style rifle, let alone numerous firearms.
