The guys who went in to take the guy down went in against orders. That’s where we’re at now, I guess.
Worst possible timeline.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

In the " lone gunman shootrr" scenario - sitting on your hands does not work.
Taking down the shooter ASAP seems to work the best.
When you consider - a reasonably practiced person with a clip loaded REVOLVER ( see S+W 625) can take down 15 targets a minute - an expert in 10 seconds or less ( see Jerry Miculek) -
How long are you willing to wait for cops to show up and DO something??
Having someone on scene - with ready access to a firearm - seems sensible.
Idea - every teacher comes equipped with a " smart gun".... Gun control proponents seem intent on foisting them on every gun owner. Let' s see how much they REALLY trust that technology.

And what is the shooter doing during the 10-15 seconds the teacher is getting his smart gun out of the desk drawer? Shooting the teacher.
Arming teachers seems like a self-defeating proposition. Once teachers are armed, it’s going to be known that teachers are armed. The shooter’s mindset is to kill as many people as possible, while the teacher’s mindset is to teach kids the capital of Bolivia. The shooter is prepped, amped, and ready to kill. The teacher isn’t. Shooter’s solution: kill the teacher first.

Boru So more " roll over and enjoy it" eh?
Oh - and seeing you are unfamiliar with US schools - they rarely come with only one teacher.
It almost sounds like you are willing to let these monsters shoot kids - just so you can throw up your hands and call it a hopeless situation....

Schools do have someone on scene with ready access to firearms. SROs.

No, it’s emphatically NOT ‘roll over and enjoy it’. It’s the rejection of a monumentally stupid idea that has no chance whatsoever of saving lives. The Uvalde shooter barricaded himself in a classroom, which was were most of the shooting took place. How the fuck would arming multiple teachers have made a difference?
By even suggesting arming and training teachers, you’re tacitly admitting that these kinds of massacres will never, ever stop. Talk about ‘roll over and enjoy it.’

Border Contol Agent Jacob Albarado - the man who took the monster down ADVOCATES ARMING TEACHERS. So we should listen to you WHY?
Are you saying you could do better?

The reasons why are given above, but here’s some more:
-Poll after poll after poll show that the overwhelming majority of teachers don’t want to be armed.
-Teachers are already educators and counselors. It’s moronic to expect them to be gunfighters as well.
-You’re always bitching about how your tax dollars are spent. Why on earth are you advocating spending billions and billions of dollars on a scheme that will not work?
Agent Albarado is just as wrong as you are.

It wouldn’t be hard to do better than le did in Uvalde. Clusterfuck doesn’t quite rise to the occasion.

It's hard to see teachers doing any better the Uvalde cops. Being the first one shot is no more effective than standing outside.
