I disagree. Religious fanaticism is not actually resistant to the former....it could be wiped out overnight. The former simply doesn't want to do that. Not because it isn't civil, not because it isn't logical. There's a difference between a pathogen being resistant and people simply not wanting to treat it.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

So you're saying it might be susceptible to logic and reason?
If you could quote the thought you're replying to, that'd be great, thanks in advance. Your inclarity is sometimes really annoying.

I'm saying that religious fanaticism may be susceptible to civil and logical solutions in the same way that there's a civil and logical solution to a fucking shark eating all the swimmers. We could build a fence, for starters.

That's where actually quoting the thought you're replying to would help the process of communication. This post of yours here is much more comprehensible and communicates more information.
To answer your point directly, religious fanaticism may not respond to the logical and civil, but national economies do, which means that political leaders do, eventually ... unless they prefer overthrow. @ Ivan Denisovich was, after all, talking about dealing with Israel as a state (his post #65 here, "rogue state" is your clue).
I thought the context would make that clear to all, but apparently I thought wrong.

Brian Boru:
Sorry for my typing errors. I meant that Gandhi lived in the 20th century. Had he lived around the birth of Jesus inside the borders of the Roman Empire he would not just be assassinated by some religious fanatic. He would have probably shared the faith of Spartacus or Jesus of Nazareth.
I wanted to emphasize the fact that humanity is gradually evolving. We don’t enslave or defeated enemies and force them to fight for our entertainment nowadays do we?
Ivan Denisovich:
Here is the arrival of Greta Thunberg at the Athens Airport today:
I wrote this in another thread. Yesterday some of the Activists of the Sumud Flottila who were detained by the IDF landed at the Istanbul Airport. Political Islamists turned the whole thing into some sort of Muslim Unity show. They did exactly what the current Israeli Government wanted them to do. They displayed scenes of solidarity with their brothers in faith (with a lot of bearded men wearing Kufis and women wearing two or three layers of Hijab) and chanted slogans like “death to Israel”
So as a response to your comment: This isn’t how we can solve it. Look at the Greeks and the Greek activists in the video. We need to recognize our differences and act as one body as human beings.
I am truly moved by the courage of all these activists and their supporters all across the world.
And I am angry with the political islamists who seem to be still believing in a Hamas / Hezbollah type of solution. Well that’s the opposite of the solution for me. Hamas and Hezbollah supporters should go fishing with Netanyahu and his cabinet and leave the rest of us alone (That’s how I think).
Brian Boru:
- Yes. As we are walking on this path toward a more civilized and peaceful world, some people are displaying ever greater ingenuity in finding ways to take us back to where we were perhaps some 500 years ago.
But I will quote Gandhi once again: This world has seen many dictators and tyrants. Yet all of them were defeated. Not one of them prevailed. Isn’t that really deep?
Denisovich:
Jews were kicked out of their land by the Roman Emperor Titus. And they were allowed to return there by the Brits some 2000 years later. Just by reading these two phrases anyone can understand that the situation is messed up from the beginning. But we have brains you know. We can solve this problem as we are able to solve many other problems.
Grand Nudger:
In the course of miracles it says “Do not underestimate the vengeance of the Ego”.
This is a phenomenon that is well known by spiritual people. Both on a personal level, and on a societal level, there are occasions in which setbacks are experienced. But this doesn’t change our overall progress toward a more rational and civilized world.
See: To those ultra nationalist Jews the only solution is to murder those they see as “the enemy”. And to political islamists the only solution is to destroy Israel. So should we just sit back and see which one prevails over the other? (As we have been doing since 75 years?).
Many people simply disagree with that. We both believe that other solutions are possible and we want these solutions to be implemented as soon as possible.

I have no fucking idea why you keep bringing some irrelevant crap. israel is aggressor in this, israel is committing genocide, israel is pissing on international law... It's israel that needs to be stopped whether by force or by sanctions and that's all that there is to it.
Some dudes chant "death to israel"? About as surprising as Jews singing "death to III Reich".
The first revolt is against the supreme tyranny of theology, of the phantom of God. As long as we have a master in heaven, we will be slaves on earth.

And if pigs had wings they'd be pigeons. If Gandhi had lived in First Century Palestine, he wouldn't have been a Hindu. He wouldn't even have been Gandhi.
Spartacus was a Thracian. Jesus was a Hebrew. Their faiths were radically different.

He doesn't have anything to say about the settlement that's being negotiated right now.

In a coincidence entirely unrelated to Netanyahu's legal troubles threatening his grip on power, the day after starting the peace process in Gaza, Israel has recommenced bombing Lebanon. As long as they stay at war, with someone, anyone, he won't be prosecuted. He is essentially killing to stay in power.
Quote:BEIRUT — Israel carried out intense airstrikes on southern Lebanon early Saturday, killing one person, wounding seven and briefly cutting a highway that links Beirut with parts of south Lebanon, the Health Ministry said.
The pre-dawn airstrikes on the village of Msayleh struck a place that sold heavy machinery, destroying a large number of vehicles.
A vehicle carrying vegetables that happened to be passing by at the time of the strikes was hit, killing one person and wounding another, according to Hezbollah's Al-Manar TV.
The Health Ministry later said that the one slain was a Syrian citizen, while the wounded were a Syrian national and six Lebanese, including two women.
The Israeli military said it struck a place where machinery was stored to be used to rebuild infrastructure for the militant Hezbollah group.
