:Looks in the mirror:
Consider the messenger detected.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

That isn't an objective method of finding out either, so I don't know what are you going about. What can I say about my morality is that I take from my life's pain and suffering, joy and pleasure, such, that I try to translate into what others feel. If I get hit by a rock in the head, that tells me that if I do that to anyone I am certain to cause pain. Question: do I like to receive pain? No, unless with the wife as a mistress and in controlled circunstances, so I shouldn't do it to someone else, just for the sake of it. My morality comes from realizing my actions have consequences, for me and/or others that suffer like me. Do you think you have deeper thoughts and sense of self than others? RE: Morality from God

Well perhaps do more reflection, more thinking, and you will realize there is a inner messenger. Ofcourse if you want to reason everything against that there is one, you could. I'm not going to argue.
Also perhaps you been so use to thinking in a non-metaphysical way, no matter how manifest a metaphysical messenger in the soul is, you will down play it. Perhaps just as religious people have a bias so do Atheists. All I'm stating is that I believe reflection over the self will detect an inner messenger of God. I think you will see, that authority is not simply your's but something beyond and even absolute and ultimately high. You're also stating that if you do not detect one, then you must not be trying hard enough. Does that not strike you as woolly thinking. I mean, it really just means "If you believe really really hard its true, and if you don't you didn't believe right". You could say the same about faeries and it wouldn't make it any truer.

If you’re going to watch tele, you should watch Scooby Doo. That show was so cool because every time there’s a church with a ghoul, or a ghost in a school. They looked beneath the mask and what was inside? The f**king janitor or the dude who runs the waterslide. Throughout history every mystery. Ever solved has turned out to be. Not Magic. ― Tim Minchin, Storm (March 11, 2012 at 3:19 pm)NoMoreFaith Wrote:(March 11, 2012 at 3:17 pm)MysticKnight Wrote: All I'm stating is that I believe reflection over the self will detect an inner messenger of God. I'm just stating what I believe to be true. It's not only about not trying hard enough, if you really don't want to believe in God, then I don't think any thing that points towards God in the soul will be enough. So its a bit like hypnosis.. if you are convinced hypnosis won't work, then it is unlikely to do so. But if you are willing to believe in God, and try hard enough, you can convince yourself its true. Sounds shady to me.

I am enjoying this sterile conversation, its showing me how deep you want to belief, I had an inner 'voice' once that told me life wasn't worth living for, is that the one? Or is it one that fits the image you have of your messenger? How to recognize it? What are the characteristics of this 'inner messenger' and criteria on wich I can base my reflections? |
