It is pretty cool that you were able to examine and modify your stand based on new information.

I am very impressed that you can take what was a totally 'real' experience
and grant that it might have an explanation other than the one obvious to
your autobiographical self.  I have no doubt that this thing you describe

Congratulations, that ain't easy.
So how, exactly, does God know that She's NOT a brain in a vat? Huh

I am glad that I shared this story with you guys. I still got a bunch of crazy ideas for threads regarding religion and life experiences. I just want to get it out of my head and spread the word.

Recently, actually before joining AF.org. I was debating with theist on YouTube regarding Islam. I have started a crazy debate against Saudi Muslims, a whole week, I was receiving a hate messages & comments, threats of all kinds. They wanna torture me for criticizing Islam, and by exposing the true nature of their believe.

I have performed this YouTube experiment twice, one in English and the other in Arabic languages. I have received the same results everywhere, so i figured its time to join a well civilized society at AF.

I hope you're able to leave the Middle East soon. Unfortunately it is not a safe place for atheists.  Sad

AF, a civilized society? My goodness, in all your life you must never have left the Middle East.

Spot on!

This is what "open minded" actually is, being willing to change your opinion in the face of new evidence/arguments. Some people who claim to be open minded actually just selectively believe certain things without being able to justify them, then criticise sceptics for not believing those same things.

At a young age, i have visited USA to Orlando (Disney World) & Dallas. I have been to Australia & NZ. That's all. I haven't left the Middle East since 2001... Fuckin Hell! I haven't left ME in 14 years. I wonder why my mind was so disoriented all those years.

Well, that is why my signature clearly says: "Sometimes I'm confused by what I think is really obvious. But what I think is really obvious obviously isn't obvious..."  So, i could keep on looking for new evidences/arguments.

Prince. Religion is the virus and you are the cure! Can you help others there? Or is it too dangerous!
If it's too dangerous and you don't trust them ...fuck 'em, leave! Come to Australia and we'll have a skinny frapaccino together!

It's extremely difficult to help people around here. As they will turn against you and never look back.

I spent 1 year trying to convert my closest friend to Atheism in Jordan, in the year of 2012. We used to sit down every weekend at a Cafe smoking Hookah while discussing theology/ mind and God. So, he was a true Muslim, He doesn't want to give up his faith as if he did, he is afraid that he will suffer an eternal damnation. In 2013, he decided not to speak to me anymore because according to the Quran, he must not sit down with the unbelievers. After graduation, i moved to Dubai, in 2014... he sent me a message on Facebook saying: " Dude, I have became an Atheist, i was convinced that religion is bullshit", and its all because of you + after believing in the theory of evolution.

I tried to convert my little brother, but instead he became a pious Muslim. He now ignores me most of the times. Sometimes, he tend to fight me in the name Allah.

Sounds cool man, I love frapaccino  Smile

Fear is a huge factor, it's probably religion's biggest weapon. The fact that anyone is scared of what "god" might do to them is clear evidence that they don't think really god is someone who cares about them. That's someone being scared of an overly harsh authority figure. I understand being scared of what other believers will do, I am very afraid of that! If I lived somewhere with extreme Islam I'd be shit scared. So I reckon there are probably loads of atheists who dare not say anything. They have realized god isn't a threat, but the zealots around them are. Again, the fact that people feel the need to violently force people to follow god shows god is not loving, and is in fact so weak that he needs us to do his dirty work.

All you can do is be there for people who are struggling, if you go after someone who isn't interested it's very unlikely to work. I've changed people's minds about issues at various times in my life, but it's almost always been because the person came to me with questions. They really wanted to think things through, and ask me why I have the position that I do. Maybe one day your brother will come around to wanting to talk to you about it. It's really sad his thinking is being stifled this way.

If Allah has a problem, let him sort it out himself. I'll call him a piece of crap fascist dictator every day until he comes personally to face me. Some maniac with a hatchet or a gun is not Allah doing anything.
