If you ever see me getting robbed (you'll know me, I'm easy to spot), please, please PLEASE do not intervene in an attempt to 'save' me. I don't want someone getting shot over the contents of my pockets, and I certainly don't want you to miss the perp and shoot an innocent bystander like - for example - your Humble Narrator.

Ohhhhh right cause you know the gun owner. I'm actually a very good shot and I have a laser to help me out even still. I know exactly who I am shooting and if I didn't I wouldn't carry a gun on me. Nor would most licensed gun owners shoot someone over a robbery. All of them that I know would only use it in life and death situations. Also I'm not going to stop and ask someone that is being held at gun point if they -want- to be saved. If the gunman doesn't see me, doesn't know I'm there, and I have a clear shot that I -know- I can take then I'm taking it. Sorry but I'm not sorry.

No, it's shame that it happens. However, if you believe some of the paranoids on this forum we're all about to be killed at any given second. It's really -not- a good idea to act upon, even if it's an understandable idea to hold. No need to apologize for thinking it, I mean...but you probably shouldn't -do- it. That's ignoring the damage that shooting a person would likely cause to you, you probably wouldn't feel much like a hero even if you managed...out of ignorance and blind luck, to shoot a really nasty person.

I'm not saying I would just jump into the mix of a random situation. They actually train you in situations where it looks like a kid is getting kidnapped but in actuality it was the parents trying to control their child that had run away. Anyone that has a gun and will use it needs that kind of training. You don't just get your license you go to classes and learn more than just the law. I'm not saying I will shoot with only a hunch that someone is about to get killed.

I think I'd just wake up and ask a nutball if he wants a pot of coffee...but also for his wallet. He's in my home, in rural 'murica, after all..if he isn't properly frightened then someone should take the time to explain his predicament and career decisions more carefully, to him. Maybe over a pot of coffee...after a polite mugging.
