You explain that tea and booze aren't in the same drink category and booze is actually rather bad for the person drinking it. He then attacks you for being "closed minded" about booze.

You can see where this is going, right?

For theists, especially the proselytezers we get here.

As for alcohol, we don't live our lives out drunk ... mostly.

Except that alcohol is delicious and being drunk is fun. Being a Theist is boring and shitty.

Like a rubber band that has been stretched almost to infinity, analogies only go so far.

Being drunk regularly can also be boring and shitty. Ask me how I know.

That is indeed really true, too much of anything is shitty.

You guys are hilarious. You do realize that even atheists are getting up and going to "church" on Sundays and they don't even believe in any reward... So who's the joke really on?

Atheists are not a homogeneous group. Some may like (or are used to due to their past experiences) the sense of community, while others (myself for instance) don't give a shit.

I think it's stupid that they call it church though, because they give talking points to people like you
"Every luxury has a deep price. Every indulgence, a cosmic cost. Each fiber of pleasure you experience causes equivalent pain somewhere else. This is the first law of emodynamics [sic]. Joy can be neither created nor destroyed. The balance of happiness is constant.

Fact: Every time you eat a bite of cake, someone gets horsewhipped.

Facter: Every time two people kiss, an orphanage collapses.

Factest: Every time a baby is born, an innocent animal is severely mocked for its physical appearance. Don't be a pleasure hog. Your every smile is a dagger. Happiness is murder.

Vote "yes" on Proposition 1321. Think of some kids. Some kids."

I don't, I like to do things on Sunday, long walks in the country with my best girlie, airsofting or just watching the latest blockbuster.

You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid.

So what? Are they like the drunk in the OP? No, they're just hanging out with like-minded people. Some folks liked the "community" of a church, but simply couldn't buy the bullshit that went with it.

Huggy, if we're going to be treating all members of a group as identical, you realize I'd rather have these guys representing me, misguided as they might be, than religiously-motivated terrorists.

Because if we're going to treat people as group-members and nothing more, that's who represents theists, in the minds of many.

Of course, I'm considerate enough to not treat you in that manner. You know, it's that whole "do unto others" thing.
