Standing at the point you saw the video. It looks to me he was on an offramp, and probably tried to get off the highway when there was a torrent of rain, and got caught in a flash flood. You don't know how fucking long he was there based on that video.

He could have looked through that clear thing on the front of his cab. Glass I believe it's called. You have no evidence for a flash flood when he's in standing water. You're really trying to justify your hysteria and it's just not working.

The trucker could have stopped his rig well before he reached the water, thrown on his flashers and waited that mess out. There was absolutely no need for him to continue driving through that and anyone with a CDL should be smart enough to know better (unless they drive for SWIFT, then they really are that stupid).

Glad the driver got help, but an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. He had to have known the weather conditions, given the area and how we all have access to knowing what the weather will be. He took that chance anyway. Not gonna call him stupid, but not gonna call him smart either.

No and again this misses two points.

This assumes that he drove into standing water. Yes people do get stupid and do that, but we don' know that in this case solely based on that video. Some people can be on perfectly dry land then suddenly get surrounded by water because of a flash flood. We simply do not know based on that video how long he had been sitting in that truck. 

SECONDLY, still would not mater to me if people are correct and he did drive into standing water, that is still no excuse to be a dick to a frightened person. If he had not been frightened he wouldn't have stayed in the vehicle. I don't care what mistake anyone thinks he made nobody deserves to be treated like that in their moment of need. The reporter and the rescuers STILL did the right thing.

You have no evidence of a flash flood. We do have evidence that he left high ground, where the reporter was, and went down that ramp voluntarily. People driving through a hurricane don't expect deep water, of course. Yeah, right.
