Because it is all you have.

Would you be better off chained to some absurd doctrine given out by crooked priests to keep idiots in line?

As i said i am not here to debate being an atheist but how to deal with it Smile

One way is to accept who you are and not worry about it.

Leave that to the theists who have to work out all the contradictions in their respective 'holy' books with mental gymnastics.

We don't have that problem. We can just live.

I personally cant describe why i feel good when i do good things, its like i cant describe why music makes me feel good. Helping a woman carry things off a bus, giving my easter and christmas chocolates to homeless people, helping out people in work it all feels good to me.
Why this happens in evolutionary terms is obvious, sort of. ive read some of the books by richard dawkins and he basically says groups of people who have a godo mix of helping each other and helping themselves and punish criminals will be successful tribes, survive breed and evolve.
It wouldnt help a group of humans for everyone to be over helpful because then a greedy tribe could come along take advantage and take over, it wouldnt help a tribe for everyone to be greedy because then no one would help each other or want to work or do anything.
This seems like a good explanation to me, and it explains why i feel good inside doing good things as a part of my natural instinct.
I still dont understand why i instinctively also feel the need to pat my cat on the head and be kind to my cat, i havent looked into it but the being kind to other humans part makes sense to me.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.

Well... i guess it gets conscripted because if you believe in god(s) or a certain religion you usually get a book with instructions and a purpose. But not having a preset one makes you question if there is a purpose and if there is not a purpose makes you wonder if or why its worth the trouble.

I've considered happy pills but it somehow seems artificial and like cheating Smile
Someone handing you a rule book and telling you what your purpose is doesn't invest that rule book or that purpose with any value, that's still something that you have to weigh yourself. Even those with the rule book still ask themselves why..even in the most devout language imaginable "god, why does this happen to me, god, why do i have to endure this, god, when are you going to lift this burden", etc. Whether or not life is worth the trouble is a question that religion has no particular advantage in answering (even assuming one believes in it).

Why do happy pills seem artificial, or- what about any other method is more authentic? Similarly, what about happiness seems to be an issue of cheating? Are there some kind of rules I've never been made aware of?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

To be honest I never tried them. There is no rule it just seems artificial to me when i imagine depending on them to be happy, sort of like ignoring the issue and treating the symptoms, i dunno. Whatever works for others is none of my business.

Because lesbian sex is fun, and I enjoy video games and long walks by the sea.

I have an irrational aversion to happy pills myself. It does seem to be more difficult to address an issue head-on rather than address the symptoms....but, I can only see an insistence on "addressing the issue" over all else if you have at least a marginally compelling reason to assume that you might be able to do so. If addressing the issue directly doesn't look promising, then why not address the symptoms in the meantime. Besides, nothing prevents you from addressing the issue after symptoms have been alleviated (and you may be much more capable of doing so if the burden of those symptoms weren't present). Don't get me wrong, I'm not insisting on happy pills, you could address the symptoms any way you like, take up a new hobby, go to the gym, find an easy female (or male), what-have-you.

You could play LOL with me and Lilly and mercilessly crush nublets while laughing at them........Lilly...LOL it up?

Do you have a tongue? You're set. Legs work too. Forget you have a penis, and blow her mind away.

* Violet will not turn this into a thread about transsexuality.

BDSM might help Angel
