That's it Zen set up your pathetic straw man... Rolleyes

Not at all. All I'm telling you is the truth. If someone is high on drugs AND gets assaulted, they cannot then go and sue the person who injured them because they were doing something illegal when the alleged assault took place. Simple. The other person still gets charged with a crime, but can't be sued for personal injury, etc.

You know you've made a terrible argument when a kitten face-palm's itself Zen. If you own cats you may think seeing them face-palm themselves over and over in your house is "normal kitty behaviour", I assure you that it isn't.

So if a person gets stoned and then goes down to the shops where he is assaulted he has no legal recourse for compensation?

I think you need to back that assertion up with the relevant legislation Danny boy.

You know, one wonders why a Christian would want to spend a lot of time visiting an atheist forum — besides to proselytize. However, given Daniel's obsession with prostitutes and visiting brothels, it's beginning to make some sense.

Most religious persons are just repressed perverts?

In Australia, if he drove to the shops, or even rode his pushbike to the shops he can be charged with DUI retrospectively and loose his divers license. I forget what police call it when they charge you with DUI after the event, it typically happens when you leave the scene of an accident without reporting it, but legally it can happen in other situations as the above example too. You can also be done for DUI while you're in the hospital after the accident - and in fact I know someone this happened to recently, and they've lost their license (as they should have).

The WIN/Gallup End of Year Survey 2013 found the US was perceived to be the greatest threat to world peace by a huge margin, with 24% of respondents fearful of the US followed by: 8% for Pakistan, and 6% for China. This was followed by 5% each for: Afghanistan, Iran, Israel, North Korea. -LINK

Which of course has absolutely fuckall to do with the point of whether he is entitled to equal protection under the law for what happens to him afterward at the shop.

Nice red herring. How much for the gourd?

If you're doing something illegal, and something bad happens to you, your rights to compensation are either reduced or completely diminished. If you're high on drugs and you get assaulted, that's too fucking bad for you, you should have thought about that before you got high. Courts don't exist to help people who are doing illegal things, they exist to help people who do the right thing.

Pretty much the same thing that your insurance company would do if you were DUI and had an accident.

No, at least in America, and I would hope most of the secular west there is a presumption of innocence. Compassion in dealing with people who do the wrong thing, rather than say what Iran or China does with their accused, is what separates democracies from fascist states.

Having been falsely accused, when I was a kid in private school, and having that entire student body hate me for ending a play day, over something I did not do, your attitude is scary. You protect the wrongdoers, not because they are innocent, you protect them because you yourself would want the same if accused yourself.

Courts are there to protect rights, everyone's rights, even the accused.

Regardless, you were challenged to back up your claim with some evidence from actual law, which you've twice failed to do. (Maybe more, I didn't bother to check how long you've been ducking this.) And now you've gone back to making bare assertions. Put up or shut up.

This is the extent of your questions? Well damn... either you're a bunch of know-it-alls, you haven't a clue, or curiosity's just not your thing.

I've been here almost 4 years now, i figure yall for a healthy mix of the three.
