Well I'm not someone who trusts in the wisdom of men. I only trust in the power of God.
That's great for you, and why the bible is convincing to you.

Most everyone else here trusts the wisdom of men and as Minimalist would probably say "blows the word of God out of their arses"

To use christianese for a minute, the first rule of witnessing is to contextualise the gospel for your audience. You wouldn't offer a Latin mass to a bunch of street kids, not a reading from the kjv to someone for whom the cev or niv would be more appropriate right?

The filthy heathen scum ™ here give the bible no credence. The words themselves are not magical. If you want to evangelise this is not the way to do it.

Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken."

RE: The simple truth
Perhaps it is because I'm new around here.

But I find this kind of verbosity entertaining in a chilling sort of way. To me TheGoodNews is akin to a freak of the old circus sideshow or Jerry Springer daytime TV. Here is an individual whose mind is so colonized by this old parasitic memeplex that he has been converted into its reproductive organs. And he hangs them out for the whole world to see.

Or maybe a more apt analogy is that of the 1950s sci-fi B movie. The aliens have landed and taken over a local. There is a thrill to know that such danger is real enough to observe but not immediately pressing on me. I thank Godless that I'm on this side of the internet and the slimy thing can't reach here. I'm safe.

Or another movie trope:
The zombie jesus has eaten the brain of another hapless human. He has little hope of a cure (Thinking 'I am Legend' here) but I was vaccinated long ago and I'm not really frightened of the vacant stare and slavering jaws.

It's sad for the victim. It is likely they will never see the beauty of reality without the props of a cartoon God. Though I've never really empathized with the living dead. They can mutter on for all that I care. Fun to watch.
So how, exactly, does God know that She's NOT a brain in a vat? Huh

I think I have already said it in this thread.... not in those words, of course.

Another nutter for sure. And shy. Didn't read it for the obvious reasons: shot through with scriptures, long winded and arrogant.

I always find these amusing, given that this same person will happily tell us about his god, who is uncreated and can exist in the nothingness before he created the universe- literally is sustained by nothing- without a hint of irony.

I can honestly say that I do not reject science. I believe science. I believe that within the universe things happen for particular reasons. I just don't believe that everything that claims to be science, is science.

Then you'd be right, but be careful not to throw the baby out with the bath water.

Perhaps you could define for us as laypersons, what does not constitute science.

Odds are you know someone who has a pacemaker... For them I'd answer - yes indeed.

It's not magic just because the word "heart" is in it you know...

What?

One reason why many of us will respond to your nonsense if because there will be people who read those responses and "go away and think" and hopefully come to a better understanding of your message. And reject it.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Electrical impulses and bio-chemical reactions.
Next question....
