The True Christian isn't so much an argument as an excuse Huggs.
Quote:So why then, is one considered a Christian when he clearly does not follow the teachings of Christ?
-because all have sinned and come up short amigo, surely you were already aware? Laying aside the christian horseshit that speaks against other pieces of christian horseshit......what we're talking about here is a subset of people who you believe have not been - good christians- (and on that count I;d agree, but our opinion isn't exactly authoritative)whether or not they are christians (bad, good, or otherwise) will be beyond you (or me) to ascertain by any means other than directly asking them. On that note, they may answer in the affirmative, -or even without being questioned they may make declarations, but we will always be able to find doubts as to the integrity of their claims. Down this road lay only tears, of course.
Faith and who may possess it is a very muddy lake - the claim you made, however, is laughably transparent. There are indeed "christians" with high body counts. As there are Hindus, Muslims, Pagans, Jews...lets not forget the Buddhists who -also- have high body counts. Whats the point of prevaricating on this issue? That people do shitty things regardless of whether or not they are christians would seem to be plain enough as to make any obfuscation of this impossible. Further, what is there to gain by foisting such a foolish "argument"? Nada. What is lost by simply accepting this reality? Nada.
Troll gotta troll though, amiright?

The part where this statement is relevant to your True Scotsman gamble.

Here we go with what? Has someone else already had this conversation with you? Imagine that.
-Then you should already know better and you don't need me to remind you of why this is garbage.

Here we go with the atheist need to label something a [insert fallacy here] when it is clearly not.
Also you avoided the question like Neo from the matrix.

Right, so you are already aware, you have had this conversation before. I'm sorry if you're dissatisfied with being unable to control the flow of conversation with me. Them's the breaks. Seeing as how I don't need to explain to you why a true scotsman doesn't rise to the level of an "argument" - I have to ask.......why did you feel compelled to put it out there? Where you hoping that maybe, this time, it might slip by? Should we (as the denizens of these boards) be insulted that your estimation of our intelligence and attentiveness is so low, or is there some other explanation?

You mean have I had a situation where an atheist refused to answer a simple question because the answer destroys their argument? yes.

If you find new data that is more accurate, do you continue using the old data? That's not a relevant question. We're not talking about a single point of data. We're talking about a data range. The old data isn't wrong, it's not as accurate.

It seems you don't even know your own atheist talking points.
You can't pull out the "no true scotsman" nonsense here because I'm not claiming "no true scotsman", my argument is "never was a scotsman". Is there a reason to be confused by a vegetarian eating a steak? nope, because he is obviously not a vegetarian.
So by not answering my question you leave no choice but to answer for you, the answer is obvious.
By definition a pacifist CANNOT be a mass murderer
The suffix "ian" means "to be like", so the word Christian means "to be like Christ" so by definition a person that does not follow the example of Christ and keep his commandments, is not a Christian (this includes mass murderers).

Answer this.
Can a pacifist be a mass murderer?
Because NO.
pac·i·fist
ˈpasəfəst/
noun
1.
a person who believes that war and violence are unjustifiable.
"she was a committed pacifist all her life"
synonyms: peace-lover, conscientious objector, passive resister, peacemaker, peacemonger, dove
"you know, even pacifists can support their nation's armed forces"
antonyms: warmonger
adjective
adjective: pacifist
1.
holding the belief that war and violence are unjustifiable.
why even if it is the utmost situation where their lives are being threatened. i can see them maybe killing their attacker or harming them if they don't stop trying to harm them. Otherwise they will try to talk them out of it because its the right thing to do. I mean you only get one life if you believe in reincarnation well you don't want to be coming back as someone that is less well off.

Exactly (see rhythm, wasn't that hard), use that same logic, except swap "pacifist" with "Christian" and you get my point. As you can see that one of the synonyms for "pacifist" is "peacemaker", let's see what Jesus said about peacemakers.
Quote:Matthew 5:9
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
