There's no way to tell we aren't living in a dream world. What's your point?

You can't do these things on planet Earth, law of physics do not apply. I think at this moment for me, this is too hard to explain. I would need to improve my vocabulary and writing skills lol. All atheists lack a believe in a god or gods. This is subtle but important difference. Regarding the truth of any claim there are three possible positions: proven, disproven, and unproven. With regard to god, atheists include those falling into either the unproven and disproven groups. Atheism only concerns a lack of belief in a god or gods. It is quite possible to be atheist and believe in an afterlife, or other supernatural ideas. (June 3, 2015 at 9:02 am)rary Wrote: Their belief is based on the laws of Physics Nope. Actually there are considerably more than five senses, but we'll let that pass for the moment. http://listverse.com/2013/04/30/10-lesse...an-senses/ (June 3, 2015 at 9:02 am)rary Wrote: With certain substances (for example DMT) our minds can be 'altered' where we now live in a completely new world. This new world does not obey the laws of physics. We meet and interact with other beings. The time we spend in this new world is as life like as any. Drugs, hormones, sleep states, brain trauma and a number of other things can alter perception and thinking. Proving that I'm not in one of those would be difficult. But behaving as if I thought I was would lead to much greater consequences. Generally speaking we all behave as if we are perceiving the world correctly because bumping into walls hurts. In other words it's counterproductive, and impractical to waste much time worrying that we are under the influence of a drug or part of a matrix like computer program etc.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god. If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.
Hell, I thought this was just a question of epistemological certainty or something. Now that OP's getting into telepathy and lack of gravity and dreamworlds I don't know what the hell is going on.

The laws of physics were created by how we percieve the world and this universe. The point is if such a state of mind can exist when you high levels of DMT, which deny the laws of Physics as we know them. Then is it not possible for there to be more after death, or have been more before we were born. Are you saying that the descriptive laws that govern the universe were 'created' by our perception?

The laws of physics are created by people to describe how the world actually works based upon human observations. Yes you can take a drug that might make somethings appear to happen that contravene the way the world appears work when you are sober. But I don't see what that has to do with the possibility of an after life, or a before life. (I don't believe in an after life, or a pre-born life either, but that conclusion doesn't follow from your premise.)
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god. If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.
We can't tell if this is a hallucination or not, but that doesn't mean that it is.

Of course they were, if the human brain were to naturally produce DMT constantly everyday of our lives of every single human being on this planet, the our laws of physics would be completely different to what they are now.
Why are we talking about the specific drug DMT so much? It could be any drug with any properties and effects if it comes from a world we have never experienced.
The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts. -Bertrand Russell
Even if god did exist, he has yet to prove it, and our doubt is justified. |
