Forget trusting them. Never ever...ever...trust the armed man who holds the power of life and death over you with no meaningful oversight. Even if we cynically assume that some amount of violations comes down to the need for a profit center - how are they supposed to be that when judgements against bad cops are paid for by the city, rather than the cop?
So they wrote 100 tickets on single intersection the first day of the month - we paid out how much in claims against them? I want that money to go to streetlights staying on, not survivors of patently lawless abuse by the forces of law enforcement. They need to get serious about their fucking jobs, not some bullshit warrior fantasy that all of our taxpayer funding is going to.
There, I'd say that sending in social workers has a distinct advantage. Social workers are serious about their jobs as people whose jobs are under constant scrutiny would be. Cops..on the other hand, are the kind of people you couldn't sell a kirby vacuum to on account of how they have shit credit..but a dozen surveillance cameras at their roach coach apartments - mostly pointed at their wives.
