There's no legitimate secular reason for why the LGBT community should be oppressed, soo... we want to know what the reason is here.
You see, you added the word legitimate just so you could control the criteria. Lots of secular societies have persecuted homosexuals. Cuba kicked out them out. Soviet Russia banned homosexuality during Lenin's rule. Whether or not it's 'legitimate' is a subjective thing.
As for the article, even if a 6 year old has a gender identity, they don't have the proper ability to express it. The rules are the rules. Some kooky parents don't get to change them.
Let me clarify "legitimate". A reason based on evidence that it actually causes some degree of actual harm, as opposed to being societally innocuous. Not Cuba, nor the Soviet Union produced any reasonable reason for the removal of homosexuals, unless you'd like to provide one for me to look at?
The whole point is that on its own, homosexuality does no harm to society, and claims that it does so boils down to that other people in that society think it's icky.
Well they can get the hell over it. I think gum chewing is icky, but I'm not going to tell people not to chew gum.
If you believe it, question it. If you question it, get an answer. If you have an answer, does that answer satisfy reality? Does it satisfy you? Probably not. For no one else will agree with you, not really.
