That is simply fucking ridiculous.
And blacks are xtians for the same reason that white trash idiots in Alabama trailer parks are xtians. They were born into it.

Yeah all my Spanish family are Catholic by choice.
Hmm... I guess all those stories of people converting are damn lies... Since faith is dictated by birth and all... Honestly logic is not in some people's vocabulary. Have fun with your circle jerk.

But the thing is, christianity does not belong to their former slavers or masters. In fact, most came to America on spanish ships, I think, so they should have been catholic, whereas most are now(at least the ones in the US) are protestant. Granted may convert, but no doubt whatsoever more are born into it. Or do you think it's coincidence that Spain and Italy are almost entirely Catholic and the UK and American Evangelical?
Is it a coincidence that Bosnia&Herzegovina has both catholic and orthodox populations on the top of mussulmans?

When you acknowledge people can convert the statement "faith is dictated by birth" immediately beces false. Maybe what you were looking for is, "religion of children at birth is usually determined by the religion of their parents". "People rarely change religion throughout their lives." But what do I know, maybe you meant what cinjin said.
Something along what I previously stated may provide a clue as to why so many blacks in America are christians... (December 26, 2011 at 2:51 pm)amkerman Wrote: Faith is personal. Quote:The Bible clearly looks down on people of color and even goes as far as to condone and even approve of beating and/or killing your slave should you so feel the need. In biblical times, slaves were actually seldom black in the sense of negroid.Hagar, mother of Ishmael, father of the Arabs, was a slave and Egyptian. However you're right essence; Christianity is racist in practice, whereas racism has never been a feature of Islam. Quote:Christians are the MOST guilty of hauling Africans out of their homes, putting them in chains, beating them, raping them, separating them from their families and then going to church on Sunday and thanking their good Lord for those privileges. Actually that's highly arguable. Christian slavers often as not bough their slaves from Muslims. Slavery was a common feature of Islamic societies from the beginning of Islam and continued in some until well into the twentieth century. PS your argument is also tu quoque (look it up) |
