'After-birth abortion' is logically sound

A paper in the Journal of Medical Ethics, entitled "After-birth abortion: why should the baby live?, argues that killing a newborn baby should be "permissible in all the cases where abortion is, including cases where the newborn is not disabled". (Hat-tip: Catholic Herald.)

The authors of this paper, Alberto Giubilini of the University of Milan and Francesca Minerva of Melbourne University, argue that "both fetuses and newborns do not have the same moral status as actual persons". Secondly, they say that "the fact that both are potential persons is morally irrelevant". Thirdly, they write that "adoption is not always in the best interest of actual people".

In summary – and it really is this brutal – newborn babies are not actual people, ergo killing them is not immoral.

Well many govts past and present have done it, typical to unwanted races or religious/ethnic cultures.

Well, of course I am against it, but it really doesnt matter. My voice counts for nothing in this system. The voice of the majority counts for nothing. Last I checked 85% of Americans like Medicare exactly the way it is, yet the vast majority of Senators are in talks right now on how to slash medicare and raise taxes on the middle class in order to drop the 1% tax rate down to 23%.

Does it really matter?
For me, no. There is a set time throughout the pregnancy during which an abortion might be performed, and this does not extent to the period where the child has moved beyond a certain period within the pregnancy.
These men might think otherwise, I disagree.

What if it was born with Tay-Sachs disease?

Tay-Sachs disease is an inherited disease caused by an abnormal gene. People with this abnormal gene do not have an important enzyme called hexosaminidase A (HEXA) that helps to break down a fatty material called ganglioside GM2. This material builds up in the brain, and eventually damages nerve cells and causes neurological problems.

Infants usually begin to show signs of the disease between 3 months and 6 months of age. Children with Tay-Sachs disease can become deaf, blind and paralyzed, and usually die by the age of 5.

It's about time people started to understand the Biblical view of abortion.

I've posted here before how the Bible makes it clear that Yahweh places no value on the life of a child. The father can have a disobedient son stoned to death in the public square just on the basis of his say-so (Deut 21:18-21). If he doesn't like his daughter, he can just sell her into slavery (Ex 21:7-8). If a man suspects his wife has been cheating on him, he can bring her to the priest to perform a magical abortion (Numbers chapter 5).

The Bible also gives a monetary value on human life. It spells out that babies less than a month old are worthless. See Leviticus chapter 27. The part that discusses the value of babies and tots is Lev 27:6.
