RE: Differentiating a religious experience/including hallucinations from a psyc disorder
March 20, 2012 at 3:44 pm
From the conclusion:
Quote:Current research available in the
field may be divided into two large groups: religiousness
and its impact on psychotic patients and the topic of
differential diagnosis between spiritual experiences and
psychotic disorders. These aspects have attracted increased
attention from clinicians and researchers. These interrelations
are complex, making simplistic or generalized
approaches impossible.
The last bit is going to leave out the run-of-the-mill religious nut.

Surely the bible is what defines christianity, so there is no such thing as un-biblical christianity.

Hunter... this is really getting a bit silly. You asked for our opinions and you got them. Taken all together, the general consensus seems to go something like this: If you actually believe that what you 'experienced' was literally real, then there are only two possibilities. 1 - You are cuckoo for cocoa puffs. or 2- You're a liar. The same goes for anyone that 'witnessed' this 'experience'.
None of it is real. None of it. Nothing you can type will change anyone's mind... unless you have proof that a god actually exists. And you don't.

I don't know why anyone would need protection from fairy tale monsters. This "Christ" douchebag though......I'd love a little bit of protection against him, not really him per se, since I've never met the fucker, but if it works against his followers...sign me up.

And rightfully so, as demonic possessions and the exorcising of said demons are now synonymous scams, confidence games, and taking advantage of the desperate. The telling thing here should be that even most people that believe that a man was resurrected from the dead 2000 years ago think the idea of demon possessions is silly.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

See what I mean, I never said possession and you heard demons and thought exorcist. Deliverance is NOT exorcism. Demons cannot posess a saved person.

Who says?
Demons are not real, so it doesn't matter, but I'd like to know where you're getting your information.

Un-biblical Christianity would be the 99% of professing Christian churches that ignore 10% of the bible. Women preaching for example. Joyce Meyers can't really preach on that. That's just one example. A lot of preachers don't preach on homosexuality because they don't want to lose prospective members or their tithings. Rich pastors are not going to preach against becoming rich. That is mainstream, not biblical, Christianity.

What are you talking about and who are you saying it to?
Oh. And where does it say that the saved cannot be possessed by demons? And also... Where does it describe this 'Deliverence' ritual you talk about?

I suppose you could use the authority of Jesus Christ to summon your demons to reveal themselves in His name and see if anything manifests but with no faith in a higher power to protect you that's a dangerous game to play. That said, if you do, please explain what you experienced.
My guess would be...fuck all.

Says who?
You are currently experiencing a lucky and very brief window of awareness, sandwiched in between two periods of timeless and utter nothingness. So why not make the most of it, and stop wasting your life away trying to convince other people that there is something else? The reality is obvious.
