Why there are so many denominations

The greek starts in the Book of Matthew through revelations.(The NT) The OT is written in Hebrew.

Quote:Surely it would be the Jews seen as they follow a more undiluted text.
Also, how does this add to the plausibility of the original text itself? Is there any evidence to back up any of what it says?
If you are unsure of something would it be better to ask a question rather than run the risk of looking foolish asserting what it is you do not fully understand?

I'm looking for something of the point-and-shoot variety. With the camera I have now, I miss a lot of pictures because it is so fiddly and it has been acting up lately.

You completely missed the point.

Which is that as intellectual honesty increases, so does your awareness of your own bias and your admiration for Jesus

Of course, every intellectually honest person admires jesus. If what you said was true, it means that there are no intellectually honest people, because most christians are not in the least bit aware of their bias.

Whoa, this is a big one, so I'm gonna have to cover it piecemeal.

Sure, that's what they all (non-denominational Christians) say.

Wow, I've never heard that one before.

Ha! Big Grin That's a good one!

(April 18, 2012 at 11:56 pm)Drich Wrote: The works found in the books of the NT attest to this fact. Paul Spends most of his time shooting down all of the different religious "have to's" the different churches and church leaders were making for themselves.

And yet they all still have them.

I do the same thing... ya know, except with out the "for God" part. Why do we need God again?

So basically "We don't need all those stupid rules, except when we need them". Wow, that has got to be the most meaningless statement I have ever heard.

I'm gonna stop you there; that is the correct answer.

"Sisters, you know only the north; I have traveled in the south lands. There are churches there, believe me, that cut their children too, as the people of Bolvangar did--not in the same way, but just as horribly. They cut their sexual organs, yes, both boys and girls; they cut them with knives so that they shan't feel. That is what the Church does, and every church is the same: control, destroy, obliterate every good feeling. So if a war comes, and the Church is on one side of it, we must be on the other, no matter what strange allies we find ourselves bound to."

Why is it intellecually honest to admire a man that shoehorned the teachings of older religions into a newer one where he is at the center?
