5 Dubloons or a gift certificate to IHOP
Send me the Dubloons and I'll pm the recipe.
In all seriousness I could post it the weekend. It's my mothers and haven't learnt the portions yet.

A political outlook can not more be rational than a rock, hammer or a car. Which political outlook is rational to prefer under a circumstances, just as which hammer or car to prefer for a particular application, depends on your objective.

The Penitentiary System.
That's the one where we elect the biggest back-stabbing sociopaths who manage to gnaw their way to the bottom of the heap of their kindred spirits. This "government" is surrounded by a civil service that has the tasks of (1) Keeping the lights on in the real world. (2) Ensuring that none of the laws enacted by the elected offal ever have any impact on the rest of society, except perhaps as a rather nasty reality TV show. 3) Convincing the elected offal that their laws are actually having a profound effect. Probably their easiest duty given the egos involved. Being surrounded by politicians was the most horrible punishment we could conceive of. It's self-inflicted and typically a life sentence.

I'd like to state right from the start, my atheism does not, at all, inform my political views.
Atheism is a single position, on a single claim. My atheism is not world view, so it has nothing to say about any other aspect of my life, besides the god claim.
My atheism is a natural outgrowth of skepticism, when correctly applied to the god claim. Skepticism came first for me. My atheism is not a stand alone position, it is no different than any other existential claim, for which there is a lack of demonstrable and falsifiable evidence to support it.
My political views are informed by my Humanism, which while compatible with atheism, does not require atheism.
With all that being said, I chose socialism, but that does not completely describe my political position. But overall, some form of Democratic Socialism would probably be the best choice.
I don't think Liberalism and Green are at odds with socialism.
You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
