Male Rape - An Invisible Problem
#41
RE: Male Rape - An Invisible Problem
With this post I'm going to go ahead and bow out of this thread. There is no point to arguing definitions.

I've made my statements in a way that perhaps have been misconstrued.
Rape is a horrible thing. Women should not be allowed to get away with raping a man. No one should be allowed to get away with rape. The OP asked a question. I gave my opinion.

If a woman can rape a man, I have rarely seen or even heard of it and posting three news stories of men raping men or female teachers seducing teenagers or neighborhood kids raping other neighborhood kids, or uncles molesting their nephews is not what I was referring to ... OBVIOUSLY.

Perhaps its possible for a grown woman to physically secure a grown man and force sexual intercourse on him, but I personally have my doubts that it happens very often and I would be willing to bet that that scenario is extremely rare.

EDIT: I just read this ...
Quote:Let's say a person threatens another person's life under the demand of sex. The person who is being raped believes that he or she has no other alternative. Under your definition, that would not be considered rape.

That is ridiculous. Threatening someone's life is indeed physical force and therefore rape. This does not make your point and this most certainly isn't "guilting someone into sex." WTF?!!!! Talk about pulling out some bull shit to make your point. I can't believe Syn actually gave you a kudos for that. [Image: facepalm.gif]

I think you should consider what rape allegations mean for a man, even if he is proven innocent.

Hence I referred to it as an invisible problem and not a clearly obvious and widely recognized problem. Your particular attitude is exactly what contributes to the issue continuing to be unrecognized, and it because of attitudes like this that I created this thread in the first damn place.

I understand your points perfectly well, Cin. You seem to be under the impression that rape requires physical restraint, but I and everyone else are telling you that's a load of bologna. Rape is sex without consent. There isn't anything more to it than that. Forcing a man into having sex by means of coercion such that he does not believe he has the capability to refuse constitutes rape. What about this is difficult to understand?

Threatening a person's life can be very non-physical. Just saying.

Quote:- A father is less likely to receive custody of a child after a divorce,

True enough ,at least in my country. However,in Muslim countries, all children AUTOMATICALLY go to the father after a divorce.

Quote: - A man is less likely to be able to have a say in the abortion of his child.

A foetus is not a child. Abortion is a medical issue between a woman and her doctor. The decision is hers alone. The father has no rights.

Uh, not to rain on the issue of women raping men, but men don't get erections at gunpoint-or in general when threatened. Not going to be likely to see much of that sort of rape due to physiological matters, methinks.

Wrong, wrong, wrong.

From Wikipedia:
Quote:Much like female erectile response and contrary to popular opinion, male erectile response is involuntary, meaning that a man need not consent for his penis to become erect and be placed in a woman's vagina. Penetration of a man by a woman is possible through use of a strap-on or other object. Rape of a man by a woman could also occur when limited sexual activities are agreed upon and a man's penis is placed in a woman in violation of the limits that had been set. Rape of a man by a woman is thus possible in several ways.
Bolding mine.

Epi, men can get erections in these kinds of situations just like how women sometimes orgasm when being raped. It's a physiological response.
