Kids can do anything they want so long as it's not school sponsored or disturbing to other kids. That is, the kids can have a little prayer group during recess, but they can't do it in the middle of class as to take away from theirs and the other kids learning. Teachers nor the school can sponsor it.

Prayer in School
|
I don't give a shit what god students want to pray to during breaks, or silently. I have 3 children, none of them will be praying, and if someone tries to make them they know how to handle it, trust me.
I thought that students could pray in school as long as it was voluntary and outside the classroom. Education about actually relevant things is more important than religious rituals. There is no time in a school for interruptions for inane superstitions. If parents want their children to be allowed to do all that crazy junk, they should home school them or put them in a private school wherein that sort of whoo whoo is embraced. Public schools should just be about learning. 42

Their birth right is to assert their own will in not being subservient like the Right (now I have seen the Left is joining them) wants them to be. Isn't what you describe as unacceptable almost the norm in the United States? For example, it is perfectly acceptable for people to badmouth the white Republicans especially about them being white, but if someone says something bad about Obama, it becomes racist. Also minorities can say racist words, but as soon as a white person says it, they are extremely chastised. On equal rights, I would support them if there were actual equal rights. There are not. What will you do if your children decide they want to pray?

You were stating that black people had every right to be racist to white people without any repercussions. By that logic my nephews have every right to despise me based on my race and it would be all well and good. You betray a comlete ignorance of american culture. Your generalizations and strawmen are an embarrassment. It's like you believe anything and everything you see on the telly. Kids can pray all they want in school now. They can sit there and look at their test papers and ask Pappy Jesus to help them till they turn blue in the face and it is not in the least bit illegal. I think they would have been better off studying but that's my opinion. What they cannot do is grab the public address system and start babbling on about their fucking god... and that's what people like you really want. You don't really give a flying fuck about prayer. What you want is CONFORMITY. Ask yourself if you would be as passionate about prayer if the Muslim Student Union wanted to get on their knees and blow kisses to Allah five times a day? I don't expect you answer to answer honestly. The Moslems are the main issue when it comes to prayer because unlike Christians, they just can't pray silently: they have to go through the whole kit and caboodle. I don't agree with their religion, but I don't feel it is just to deny them from practicing their religion. What I want is freedom for people to be able to express their beliefs in public as I am very much against Fascist conformity of any kind....it's extremely boring not to mention extremely intolerant and prejudice.

When I think of religious freedom, the Hindus are the first religious group to come to mind. When prayer, the Moslems. When just not really into religion, the Buddhists (never got into that whole thing). Christians just have it so easy in the West. They already have more freedom than ever. When they say they need more religious freedom, it just reminds me of the American middle-class who say they have it so bad because they are not part of 1% despite themselves being better off that most of the world.

They find it amusing that people talk to an imaginary being, so I wouldn't be surprised if they tried it, just to see what happens, neither would I be surprised if they realized it does nothing, and didn't make it a habit. Besides, to which god would they pray? The one you worship, or the hundreds they make up just for fun? 42

Thanks for clearing that up...it just came off as if you prohibited them from getting involved with religion. Also there are thousands upon thousands of gods already made up. They would probably find it interesting to research them I think.
