There is every indication that he was not in his right mind. One police officer supposedly said he called himself the Joker when he was arrested. Of course, he could have just been being a dick, but given the circumstances, I think he had a mental illness. There were no indications that he was a sociopath or a psychopath, which are the kind of people who commit these crimes without an underlying mental illness. Of course, that is just from what I have read thusfar and I am no psychiatrist. I just happen to know a lot about serial and mass murders. Now, if it starts turning up that he used to kill animals and spent almost all of his time alone, I might change my opinion on that.
Sickest thing I've heard so far, he set a radio to blare techno music exactly at midnight, so his neighbor came up and banged on the door. My opinion: He was trying to get someone to open the door with the music. Mentally ill or not, fuck that guy.

I think the calls for this man's death are premature. I'm still undecided on whether or not the death penalty is warranted in certain cases, however, I think regardless of your position on capital punishment, we should all be able to agree that the mentally ill should not be executed.
My heart also cries out for vengence, but my brain says do not be so quick to rush to judgement.
Edit: And don't give me any shit about my heart not being able to think. It's a metaphor, dammit.

The death penalty is too kind for him.
Lock him up in the smallest and darkest cell where he'll spend his entire life in, and when he's of old age. Then execute him. Dump his body in the ocean for the fish to eat.

I'd rather he was raped for his whole life in an ordinary prison.

That's a bit harsh don't you think? He should be sent to mental health facility, to get the proper care and rehabilitation he needs. Then hopefully one day he can be released through a work program. Some kind of menial labor job, like a school janitor, you know something like that

Everyone ask yourselves: If the someone you loved the most, got murdered viciously, what bloodlusted vengeance would suffice?

He didn't deserve the electric chair. I say he deserved being locked in a room, naked and covered in salt with the fork-weilding families of the victums.
