It's not police issue it's my personal carry rig. I'm not a cop.

As far as hollow points go that gold dot is designed to expend all it's energy in a hurry. A 230 grain FMJ .45 might stop somewhere in the third person it hit. That isn't really a desirable trait in a self defense round.

If you're shopping for a firearm, .22lr, 20 gauge, and 7.62x39 are the most useful and diverse ammo types imho. So look for something along those lines. If you want stopping power, buy a baseball bat.

If your aim is target practice, a .22 is what you want. The rounds are cheap (and you can carry hundreds in your pockets- if you wanted to-, it wont wreck your wrist or shoulder, they're inexpensive and allowed at just about any range (also, there is very, very little in the way of game that can't be taken down with a .22). Want to shoot a 45 for kicks, rent it from the range. I only mention this because people often dream about owning a gun they have no use for and/or don't really understand what firearm would best fit what they want to do with it. I've also noticed that people become collectors, closets full of guns, they might shoot one or two of them a year..lol.

.22 is the way to go for a beginner.

.22's can really mess up a person's insides as well. A lot of bullets go straight through, whereas .22's bounce around.

In Britain, most of us are brave (or perhaps crazy) enough to fight without cowardly weapons. Even the regular Police manage to do their job without them.

so that part is true then - my ex told me when she used to live in london, it was so funny that their cops had no guns. she said they were so polite, if you were pulled over and didn't have your license with you, that they'd literally follow home and wait outside whilst you run inside your flat to get it for them. that blows my mind if it's true, considering that in the 6 or so cities i've lived in, when i was pulled over with no license, i was not allowed to drive anywhere and in some instances my car was towed (at my expense). even then, the hand is always on the gun while talking to you .... waiting for you to make a move. lol

That's total bollocks.

Besides some of our cops do have guns. Except they only use them if needed. The regular cop doing his rounds isn't going to be in any need of one, if there was a shooting or something in the local area then they'd call in the armed police.

It's true. Very laid back community here. The cops would be more than happy to follow you home and allow you to get your documents.
No weapons on them, unless they have to have them in certain situations.

If you took away the gun alot of police officers here in the states would have never joined the force...hehehehe.
