He shouldn't believe in their existence, there's no reason for Bob to do so. If he did and was right, it would only be by coincidence, not because of evidence and reasoning.

Who's the most prominent Christian on this forum?

Let's say that Bob lived back then, but didn't have any tools for measuring things like red-light shifts and so forth, so he couldn't actually detect the presence of a black hole. He would not have any justification to believe in their existence. What if Bob's religion also believed that there were giant invisible penguins that crapped stars? How is he any more justified in believing in black holes than giant star crapping penguins? You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence. I love debates and I got myself a formal debate in Christian Forums but they gave me a 3-day ban. I'm not sure I should go back there and start that debate because I think they hate me there and will ban me if I say the wrong things again and I'm sure to say the wrong things. I do hope to be able to get into the thick of some formal debate with someone. But although I'm a Christian, there is nothing I can debate with an atheist about. We probably agree on everything. I'd rather debate with a Christian. So you're a Christian? It doesn't make sense!?! What would you disagree with an atheist about? It seems like you're needing reassurance from another Christian not debate! You've said they 'hate' you on the Christian forum ... Jeez how bad is that!?!? Mind you, they could forgive you!! xXAngenlina starXx "Take the risk of thinking for yourself. Are there real Christians that debate there? If they don't get the joke, that would be the best demonstration of POE's Law, ever! That's actually not surprising at all. They thought Minecraft turns kids into sex slaves. I did not know that.

The only two theists on here that I can remember having good debates with are Drich and Ryft (especially). Drich is a little nutty. He likes to hammer you with his One True meanings of words and verses. Expect lots of cherry picked lexicon/concordance words.
Ryft is just ruthless. Think of him as the boss level. That's all I can say.
