When you prayed did it ever work?
RE: When you prayed did it ever work?
I'm not expecting a philosophical insight, just philosophical musings. The former I can't really think of having (Wink) but the latter I have all the time.

WoW! All the anger! It's all about "ME"....And what "I" expect from God! He didn't answer that time "I" prayed, on my knees when "I" was 5 or 7...or...uh... oh....when bullies pantsed me...or when my mommy was dying of cancer!

Everyone acts as though God owes them something! He's rolling around on a cloud doubled over in laughter!

He already gave us the greatest gift of all! LIFE........and the opportunity to LIVE FOREVER!!

HERE'S A CLUE: all we need do is BELIEVE! Not only for 3 visits to church 20 years ago...but everyday, every way! We also need to have the trusting heart of a child.

What dad would hold anything back from his totally committed loving, trusting child? Or... in contrast: his cold, calculating, uncommitted, loathing, cursing offspring? Huh?!

It's time to take a look at our hardened hearts...because that is the real issue here. Without Love for God [and each other] we don't stand a chance...in this world, or any other!

I would take the several hours necessary to tell you about all the miracles God has done for me and the loving people I know...if I thought it would be met with respect and belief! But sadly I know better.

"At that time Jesus prayed this prayer: "O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike."

Wow! So "all" we need to do is believe in your god all day, every day, in every way, while at the same time having the trusting "heart" (by this of course you mean "mind") of a child? You are PATHETIC.

You mean you could tell us a bunch of anecdotal stories about coincidence and fortunate happenstance that in your deluded "heart" are attributable to your god? Please spare us.

I think you mean the brain of a child.

Fine, you do that. Just keep me and mine out of it, that's all I ask.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

You know? I was going to ignore this, but WTH?!

How do you know that?
Did you read it of a 2000 year old book?
What makes you trust that book?
Clearly, there are people who don't trust it. Have you ever considered these may be on to something?

False comparison is.... FALSE!
Why do you compare a god to a parent?
Did you read it of a 2000 year old book?

This world managed to work quite well without humans for millions and millions of years. Humans came in and managed to stay alive without gods. In 1500, the europeans "discovered" Brazil. People were already settled there. They were natives... and, most notably, they were atheists. They had no concept of god. And yet, they survived and thrived until 1500CE! Still think people don't stand a chance on their own?

Any miracle description you provide will be met with skepticism.
If it's anything like Drich's dream, it will be met with "it's just a dream".
If it's some cancer that went away after the doctor saying the person had a few months to live, it will be met with "that person falls on the tail of the distribution that doctors use to measure how long patients have to live, on average".
If you present a hallucination, it will be met with "psychotic episode".
etc...

Ultimately, they all derive from your indoctrination, even if it wasn't a standard active indoctrination.

Imagine, you had been born in a Hindu area of the globe. All your miracles would have an explanation stemming from Hindu mythology.
The same goes had you been indoctrinated in another religious view.
And, had you been born in a completely atheist upbringing, you'd see things skeptically as well.

Now tell me how wrong I am.

Few people think god owes them something. Jesus, said that prayer would be answered, so it reasonably should be.

Wow that...is actually slightly accurate (presuming god exists). Too bad believers don't get their moms miraculously cured of cancer just by asking, either. Note, slightly. What dod tries to hide his own existence, and still demands love in messages delivered by a third party?

Do you know what you just did there? Only unwise people will find 'god'? Wow...

I believe the prayer says: "those who think themselves wise...". which you and everyone else seems to think!

We'll "ALL" know in the end...won't we?
