Well, this has got to be one of the most enlightening threads I've ever read. The problem of evil is boiled down to, nothing God can do is evil, because he's God. We puny humans with our puny morals cannot grasp the great goodness of Gods wrath.

I find it highly disturbing the excuses some xtians are willing to make for human suffering. Seriously. Disturbing.

Well, Annik, now you know why they assume we can't possibly be moral - without their god telling them what is or isn't moral, these people would be the ones acting exactly the way they say atheists do: killing babies, raping anything that moves, and generally acting like Cthulhu-spawn.

Believe me champ, minnie has done his worst and i am still here. Do you want to know when he has no more 'sauce' to give? He starts cussing at a higher ratio than he is able to provide content. Check his 'saucy' work in the "Failed biblical prophecies" thread. The sum total of his ending arguements were little more than F-you, because I said so. No reference material no more reasons given just a series of F-you Because i said so. Minnie is good at argueing, but just like everyone else if you can go far enough, he bases what he believes on Faith just like everyone else.

Quote:And fuck you - he's given me excellent reference materials for me to do my own research before and offered others. On the other hand, he also does a more than excellent job boiling history down for twats like the lot of you who have recently been spinning around his orbit.
Do you know the difference between boiling down History and reinventing it by leaving out key parts or adding them? Reference material. It is seldom if ever that any of my arguements with him has he willingly left ANY unsolicited reference material, Why? control of content. When you make stuff up you don't want it undermined by a pesky thing like actual fact.

I am not saying any of this to tear down your hero. He is good at what he does (intimidation and general christian bullying) All I am saying is do not even let your heros do your thinking for you. Do a simply google or wiki search to confirm what is being repersented. 8 times out of 10 you will be pointed in the right direction with just this first step.
I generally try and get at least 3 sources to back up what i say about general facts and history.

I'm sure you have a lot to say on that, considering how good you are at ignoring information and twisting it to support your own views.

PS - I'm capable of using the internet - unfortunately I just seem to look at sites that use historical and scientific back up instead of Biblical reference material.

Therefore, Christianity endorses slavery and genocide, as long as god is doing it. So much for the religion of love.
God despises evil for the damage it causes. When people refuse to stop doing evil, and when they do not accept God's sacrifice for their evil, He has to put an end to the evil. That means destroying the vessel carrying the evil. But He loves the vessels (people), and gives them chances to reform. As 2 Peter 3:9 says, "The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance." The majority of instances of genocide in the Old Testament occurred after a word of warning--Nineveh, Babylon, Sodom, Tyre, Israel ect. all received calls for repentance. God does not kill for personal reasons, He kills in the name of good and in protection of the people who do recognize the problems with sin (sin being the opposite of love).

Keep those Christian responses coming! Every time one of you post, you go out of your way to show everyone what amoral monsters you guys are. At least, nobody can dispute the strength of your awful faith.

Just be thankful that the Paradigm of Genocide, rape and slaughter ended at the Cross with Old Covenant, and Now Christians are call to forgiveness, and to turn the other cheek. For it is much easier to tap into righteous anger and indignation than it is to forgive. I feel it is twice the effort to turn the other cheek willingly than it takes to strike back. But, because the same God who commanded the Jews to righteously carry out genocide rape, and looting has also called All Christians to follow the example Christ lived.

If you are truly looking to learn then take in the whole picture and not just the bits that you can use to fuel a self righteous attitude.

Again you can be as 'moral' as you soceity deems morality to be. Again 'Morality' is derived from one's own personal standard of righteousness or Self righteousness as Christ Identified it.

What you can not be is Truly righteous. Or Godly righteous. None of us can that is why we need Christ.

the man who condones genocide suddently notices how crap his position is and in a desperate attempt to save his face states:
"I realy just want to turn the other cheek"

well i`m going to slap it

Well, this has got to be one of the most enlightening threads I've ever read. The problem of support is boiled down to, nothing Minimalist can do is unsupported, because he's Minimalist. We puny Christians with our puny facts cannot grasp the great goodness of Min's secret sauce.

hahaha.

So he has to make subsequent pacts that he won't act like an asshole.

I guess the reason that we don't see him doing shit these days is he might as well not do anything...relieves god of the temptation of being any more of an asshole than he already is.

If he exists at all.
