Christians celebrate rape, torture, slavery and genocide.

RE: Christians celebrate rape, torture, slavery and genocide.
Yahweh was one of the minor gods of the Canaanite pantheon much as Marduk was a minor figure in Sumeria. Along the way they became associated with certain spots, Marduk lucked out and got Babylon while yahweh got fucked and got stuck with jerusalem.

Xtians, of course, go absofuckinglutely crazy when they hear this.

But then...they start out quite close to crazy in the first place.
Ah, but that is precisely what I was not doing. I am indicting God on his actions only to show that Christians are morally complicit in God's crimes if they praise him.
Then we are in agreement. For the thundercat seems to want to take the arguement in another direction.
The true purpose, of course, is to make Christians ask themselves why they would not only praise such a terrible evil, but why they would feel compelled to argue that this terrible evil is the 'ultimate good'. The result of this is that Christians are death cultists who, through their faith and devotion, praise the works of men like Hitler because the God they consider to be 'good' is precisely the same kind of character Hitler was: narcissistic, bloodthirsty and delighted with his own cruelty.
And i have had absolutly no issue in accepting your title so long as you can admit that the title you have awarded the whole of christianity is loosly based on your own self righteous standard/morality.

You are currently experiencing a lucky and very brief window of awareness, sandwiched in between two periods of timeless and utter nothingness. So why not make the most of it, and stop wasting your life away trying to convince other people that there is something else? The reality is obvious.

No. Doing it because the cows didn't praise me enough would be murder.
A better analogy would be killing the cows which hurt others and which ignore the voice of the one who feeds them. Now suppose all the cows hurt others, but the owner says "I forgive you and will let you live if you accept my forgiveness. Not only will I let you live, I will take you to the greenest pasture you have ever seen." Inexplicably, 1/3 of the cows ignore the owner's presence. Maybe for a while they can keep hurting fellow cows for their own pleasure, but they will never reach that pasture or get to know their wise owner.

Panic

Oh, wait that's right we don't care. Why because any honest scholar will tell you that the only mention of Yahweh in any know canaanite writings was the identification of the Jewish God.

What happened is not being disputed. God did indeed call for the complete destruction of several tribes of people, enslavement of others, and assimlation of others still. What is being disputed is this soceities right or rather the foundation used to judge those acts as being bad/evil.

Big Grin
Only if you are the type of person who looks to be spoon fed mountains of poop, and does not care to do any actual thinking/research for yourself...

Their is a reason minnie rarly posts any reference material when he makes statements like the last one. This is the same reason the church of the dark ages burned book. (So you would have to take their word for it.)

Quote:on your own self righteous standard/morality.

What I have learned today about Christianity:

a) Genocide isn't always bad, it's only bad if your god says so

b) Thinking that genocide is always bad is "self righteous"

c) The Christian god owns people and kills them for his own personal reasons.

Therefore, Christianity endorses slavery and genocide, as long as god is doing it. So much for the religion of love.

Quote:Sure. Have you read the Apocalypse?

I actually did, and I find it a nice example of what happens in a mushroom trip. But then again you could say the same for many different parts of the Bible.

The more I read about Christianity, the more I'm glad that I don't believe in it.

Drich, if you need Min to bring the sauce, he'll smother you in so much historical ooey goodness you won't be able to pull yourself out of the sticky mire of history.

And fuck you - he's given me excellent reference materials for me to do my own research before and offered others. On the other hand, he also does a more than excellent job boiling history down for twats like the lot of you who have recently been spinning around his orbit.
