Praying for others?
#41
RE: Praying for others?

Wasnt the "One Nation Under God" added in at a later date as a replacement to "One Nation Indivisable" or something along those lines? I'm sure I remember something about Washington certainly not wising to have religion infused with the State?

Ever hear about the Big Bang theory? I think it quite probable that we are part of a cyclic bang system. Time does not exist separate from matter, it cannot. Without matter, there is nothing for time to effect. And without the ability to effect anything: it cannot exist.

More on this latter, i have to get to my next class.

And you think my ideas are warped?? Big Grin

Those are absolute statements again Sae. Is this you backing those up?

Yeah that's an interesting idea. I've considered it myself in the past. Never seriously though.. it's too way off the wall Big Grin What proof do you have of such a notion?

I accept the big bang theory. I have for a very long time. Do you believe in multiple realities for this multitude of timelines then?

Yes. The Big Bang would be no more possible than the Christian god, if it were not part of a cycle (Which has no beginning, or end). Discover and Scientific America (among other links) will follow this post when i get home (Hopefully, i may die on the way there in this timeline Tongue, and the internet might not work ^_^ One has got to have an open mind to possibility Tongue).
Please give me a home where cloud buffalo roam
Where the dear and the strangers can play
Where sometimes is heard a discouraging word
But the skies are not stormy all day

I like to ask them what exactly they expect their god to do in response to their prayer.
They always answer, "To show you the light."
I point out to them that thousands of others have agreed with them in praying the same prayer and nothing has changed. Then I ask why they think they are going to get their wish when no one else has?
They don't have an answer except to say, "He's working on it."
Then I point out to them that just maybe their god has alreaqdy shown me the light and that's why I'm not a Christian.

Well the pledge we said until the late 90's said "We pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic to whitch it stands one nation under god, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all". So no I don't think it was added to get rid of "one nation under god". I don't know what they did with it after we had to stop saying it. Every morning we had to stand up before class and look at the flag and say it. Oh and the under god thing was put in there by some man in the 1950's or maybe 1800's. I don't know but I just found out that it wasn't always in there.
