Reserach into religion is as vital for public enlightenment as research into crime is vital for public security. I'm not convinced that a believer must pick the right religion, just that they pick one and mine its depths. As long as the goal is love, I think god will be merciful. That's like saying the criminal shouldn't be too picky about what crime he commits, so long as he commits some crime and does so in depth. That's true if your are more interested in being criminal than to benefit from any crime. You want to be bad for badness' sake, and not as a means to some other end. Somehow that is not surprising coming from Wooters. Some religious idiots like GC and Drich iseems to be after the comfort of some specific dilusion. Wooters is just enemored with the general idea of being diluded. RE: Is researching into religion a waste of time?

After the game, the king and the pawn go back in the same box.

James 1:27 This verse explaines their are but two criterion which God commands of religion, the first being to suport ones fellow man in their needs, and the second, to keep oneself from sin, End of. It is man who has invented systems of belief, full of un-scriptual doctrins and preached them with swelling words filled with vanity from lofty pulpit's in lavish temples. To judge God, haveing not personally read His testament and then blame Him for the foolishness of men is guilefully naive. Shut the fuck up, man.
You are currently experiencing a lucky and very brief window of awareness, sandwiched in between two periods of timeless and utter nothingness. So why not make the most of it, and stop wasting your life away trying to convince other people that there is something else? The reality is obvious.

What's your reason for flirting with the idea of discarding the very tenet of your entire faith, as well as the first Commandment? RE: Is researching into religion a waste of time?

Another woefully unoriginal generalization from good news. I've read the entire bible, numbnuts. Your god is a selfish, jealous, vengeful, hypocritical, murderous, sexist, fuckwit if he do exist. Which he don't, so feel elation in that. I know I do. [/quote I doubt very seriously you have actually read the bible from beginning to end. Probable, your education is based on a couple of years in community college, and wekpedia. She was very religious at one point in her life, church going, faith healing, god following... you name it. So, hey, I dunno, maybe actually know what you're talking about before you make broad statements, ebg. Quote:Comparative theology is interesting. Is this a specifically religious love, Chad? Or can my secular goal of love incite god's mercy too? Yeah, reading a whole book is just UNBELIEVABLE. None of us here can do that. (May 17, 2013 at 11:05 pm)ebg Wrote: I doubt very seriously you have actually read the bible from beginning to end. Every time I see a Christian talk about a kind, loving personal God, or a God who is good and righteous, I have the same doubts. |
