For non-Christians: What would it take?
|
Show evidence for a god and I'll believe that it exists. Want me to worship that god so I'll have eternal life in paradise and avoid eternal torture in hell? Show me proof of a soul. So if you were able to prove a god exists, you still have to work on that soul thingy if you want people to believe in eternal life.
Frankly though, I'm not afraid of eternal burning in a lake of fire, seeing as how if a soul did exist it wouldn't have a nervous system or brain with which to feel pain.
Christian apologetics is the art of rolling a dog turd in sugar and selling it as a donut.
Have him bring me the eyes of the oracle....and i'll believe in your.........savior
The trouble with the world is not that people know too little, but that they know so many things that ain't so. -- Mark Twain . (June 14, 2013 at 1:07 am)Cthulhu Dreaming Wrote: A fucking miracle. What if he made all Christians actually be peaceful and loving like Jesus and follow his teachings? Even the Westboro Baptist Church idiots? That would be a pretty big miracle.

I don't understand why any of these things would prove the existence of a god, or disprove the existence of god with their absence. why would you assume god is friendly or even likes humans or wants everyone to be nice to one another? But to answer the original question I personally think the existence of a god or powerful being might be the answer as to why we do exist but it's just one of an infinite amount of possibilities, but consider the question what would it take for me to disbelieve in all religions? Pretty much what you see around you today. All religions being used to manipulate people for political or other goals or for money, the fact that humans have a tenancy to make up gods, gods of war, water, drug smuggling, whatever else. Absolutely no evidence of anything paranormal. Prayer being useless. The list is pretty long. Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them. Impersonation is treason.
Nothing more to see here...
Looks like another drive by. You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence. |
