Out of date soup yeah Past its use by date.
It was still sealed and I was trying to ease it open and a load of it shot out over the floor! That's pretty much me in a nutshell.

The joys of tupperware filled with liquid!
protip: never open the lid while holding the container. Always do that with it resting on a table or something.

I have been writing again. My writing is apparently bleh because I can't find an agent but I am trying to improve. My latest work is organized like Bram Stroker's Dracula. The protaganist is trying to organize her dead friend's papers, recordings and newspaper clippings so she can get finish the book he wanted published. It is a horror/fantasy set in modern NC. I would describe it as a dark fairy tale
One of the hardest things for me to do is to let the character be a jerk now and then. We all have jerkish moments. My character has certain flaws that would make her more likely to lash out in certain situations but writing those scenes make me wince

Have you written a virtual biography for her? If you know her backstory, and she has some trauma, conflict or other things in her life (maybe there were some bad things in her childhood, and memory of that triggers certain reactions), then her sometimes having jerk-like reactions to things might just come naturally to you, out of where she came from, and still read consistent and not as arbitrarily put in by the author to generate conflict. Your wincy feeling probably comes from the fact that you cannot relate to your own character on an emotional level, and that can't possibly make for good prose. If you manage to really know her, ideally you'll be able to really feel it and then write the reaction for her without it feeling awkward.
As far as creating things goes, I'm also mostly busy writing right now, but non-fiction (pop science).
I've started building a single-ended valve headphone amplifier years ago and never have the time to finish it! It's gonna be awesome, and I'm looking forward to finally getting on that.

My first new car was a soft top Toyota Landcruiser. It was so loud on the freeway that I couldn't hear the radio. I hated that thing. Is your soft top any better noise-wise at speed?

Tinker-toyed this together yesterday morning from
A bicycle
A weed-whip
A 12 inch propeller
Total cost ~$20.
Haven't found out how fast it'll go yet. The primer bulb on the motor was broken. I'm casting a new one today.
So how, exactly, does God know that She's NOT a brain in a vat?

You are one resourceful and creative individual, Julia. Where in the world do you live? You'd be fun to know.

I imagine pedestrians jumping to safety left and right while your plow your way with that fearful contraption

That is good advice. Thank you. I have written a back story for her but I think that I still have to work on getting to know her.
I'm a self taught, sort of crappy painter but the skull in my avatar is one I painted for my daughter. She loves skulls.
You all are so talented. I am in awe of everything that has been posted on this thread so far.
