Maybe you should tell me

'You can have all the faith you want in spirits, and the afterlife, and heaven and hell, but when it comes to this world, don't be an idiot. Cause you can tell me you put your faith in God to put you through the day, but when it comes time to cross the road, I know you look both ways.' - Dr House

Well....see, that makes me think you don't actually have a point or an argument and you are in fact trolling. And given your history, i'm more inclined to believe you are squinting you eyes at the computer screen, typing furiously, trying to come up with new, more original, snide remarks and insults.

Just saying "The bible translation means something else" doesn't change the definition of "omnipotent." And you're just using the "lost in translation" defense. Besides, "almighty" means the same thing as "all powerful."

almighty or infinite in power, as God.
The fact that your bible contradicts itself is a flaw of your bible, not a flaw of word definitions. It doesn't matter what translation you choose to use anyway, because you'd think a being powerful enough to create the entire universe would be able to prevent living beings on one tiny speck of it from suffering.

Most English Bible translations don't use the word "omnipotent," so I don't need to change it's definition. Rather, you're changing the word almighty to omnipotent.

I'm not familiar with that one. What is it?

I agree that he's able to prevent suffering. I disagree that he can both prevent suffering and yet allow us to learn things such as comforting others and self-sacrifice.
If you're simply arguing that the god of the bible doesn't meet certain definitions you can come up with, then - OK. So what?

Now now come on. We weren't arguing whether omnipotence is possible (thats for another thread)

I would cut half of the bullshit in my life and concentrate in more realistic pursuits.
