The further people politically move from moderacy the more people lie
#11
RE: The further people politically move from moderacy the more people lie
What makes a moderate less likely to lie than someone who is not a moderate?

It's more accurate to suggest that the more that a viewpoint clashes with reality, the more its supporters will lie to support it. American conservatives are extremely well-acquainted with this state of being, as there is virtually no popular conservative viewpoint which correlates to reality. In our country, it's not a balance between extremists on the right and extremists on the left, because there are many more extremists on the right, and they are far more extremely on the right. There is nothing even remotely like the Tea Party in terms of size and influence on the left. Proponents of full-on communism are extremely rare, whereas the enemies of American democracy are in a heated battle to take over the GOP from the RINOs.

Perhaps it makes me an extremist to say that, but the party which is behind virtually every effort to restrict voting rights to the people who agree with them is the Republican party. Though obviously not 100% the same, there is a terrifying symmetry between the Tea Party vision and another vision, the mention of which would draw cries of "Godwin!", the most important exception being that the Tea Party has the fatal flaw of lacking any meaningful youth appeal and will die along with the old racist, sexist, homophobic fucks that form its core.

I don't think anyone is really disagreeing here. It's just that, who cares? Most of us already know that politics and lies are blood brothers. Well, except for maybe the moderates as CapnAwesome pointed out. They're slow to catch on. Moderates usually seem to be more shocked than others when they finally realize the guy they voted for is the liar he always has been.

Dien Bien Phu:

When someone comes out with "decent-er than thou" condescending shit like this I suspect they are a closet Christian and a Republicunt to boot. The combination of both makes someone, IMO, lower than an ocean nematode's turds.

Only wannabe toffs and self-appointed apprentice saints call their wedding tackle, and their other Christian declared "indecent bits" to do with sex, shitting, and other excretory functions, by formal Latin or infantile names like "vagina," "pussy" or "penis" and "Willy." They do so hoping to set themselves above lower class people and unbelievers. (pardon the redundancy!)

Quote:Why not quote me as a classical case of extremism, Dien Bien Phu? I mean you've already called me every extremist epithet in your rabidly Conservative vocabulary. Big Grin

Dien ben Phu? Wow how hilarious. I am hardly a conservative, rather a strong liberal. You, however, are an unpleasant anti-semite

Quote:You sought this forum and its members out, and this is their expectation of you. If you wish to willfully disregard the feelings and expectations of the membership to pursue a slanderous agenda against people who are unlike you (non-moderates), do us all a favor and shut the hell up.

Dead Horse

You are so pompous as to claim to speak for all the members. You speak for you and not for the forum. I will not 'shut the hell up' and you are powerless to make me. You are trying so very hard to attack me over the fact I claim political extremists lie..a lot and you are gaining admiration from an unlikely coalition of a repulsive Anti semite and an extreme Zionist, all you need now is that Turkish chappy and you can play a full house. If you get a moderators badge and gun then you can start playing Kommissar until then ill treat your demands with the condescending amusement to which they deserve.

So apart from empty threats about what I can and cannot do what else -going to claim that I am emotional and 'Butthurt' as silly flamers like to say when THEY are emotional and a little out of control?

I think this is better left because I think others will be very bored with this rather pointless exchange. As such I will not be returning to arguing this point.

You are more than welcome to put me on ignore if my lack of deference to your feelings is uncomfortable for you.

I suspect that is an American liberal, which is the equivalent to a quasi-Nazi outside of the "the states. For instance Barbaric O'Bomber would have a walk up start as the leader of our conservative Partei, The Liberals.

Not being an American why would I use American jargon? I am a Liberal in the British sense.

Ah a serious reply...thank you

It's more accurate to suggest that the more that a viewpoint clashes with reality, the more its supporters will lie to support it.

I think that is the case.

Quote: American conservatives are extremely well-acquainted with this state of being, as there is virtually no popular conservative viewpoint which correlates to reality.
I am not sure about that. I think US conservatives are more correct in a small number of areas.

Quote:In our country, it's not a balance between extremists on the right and extremists on the left, because there are many more extremists on the right, and they are far more extremely on the right.

Certainly the US political fulcrum is well to the right of Europe so in that respect you are correct but even taking that into account even the extremists in a US context on the left seem to lie a lot too. The left's main areas of lying tend to be about portraying the USA as being responsible for all of the evil in the world, pretending that every event is ultimately the fault of the USA, lying and then lying about and suppressing research into the 'nature' side of human behavior especially when it comes to Sexual differences. I also find the left of US politics as racist as the Conservative right is (athough the left choses to redefine racism so it is not applicable to its favoured minorities) and like the conservative wish to have their religious nonsense taught in schools the left try to teach pseudo history especially when racial issues are brought into the equation.

Quote:There is nothing even remotely like the Tea Party in terms of size and influence on the left. Proponents of full-on communism are extremely rare, whereas the enemies of American democracy are in a heated battle to take over the GOP from the RINOs.

I am well aware of the tea party vs the Rinos (although frankly the Rinos bear far more resemblance to trad Republican values than the tea party does)

Quote:Perhaps it makes me an extremist to say that, but the party which is behind virtually every effort to restrict voting rights to the people who agree with them is the Republican party.

I think you are referring to a couple of states who demand proof of identity to vote..something pretty standard in most countries. However this has nothing to do with lying but it is clearly an attempt to exclude the lumpen proletariat from voting.

I see very little symmetry. Unpleasant as American conservatives can be they are not neo fascists. They are (with some obvious social exceptions) pro small government and into interventionist economics whilst the Corparativism of the fascist state is completely alien to the USA (please don't fall into the trap of equivocating corporativism with what is now known as Corporatism. they are very different Ideas).

Wrong again. Its an opinion. Deal with it

Would you please make up your fucking mind? When you contradict yourself this plainly, I have no trouble justifying my belief that you are disappointing this community's expectations of honesty and reasonableness.

Oh rasetu Claims to speak for the whole community again

I don't think anyone else is actually interested in her obsession, frankly, other than her nasty little Nazi mate Snidely Whiplash(who she seems to be happy to be allied with despite claiming to be jewish.

Rasetu seems to have a number of issues with other people too, clearly believing she is their intellectual superior and telling them so. I think she probably has COPD and possibly some sort of narcisstic behavior disorder so I think the best path here is none of non response to aggression. No doubt she will continue to rant and rave for a bit then slowly the obsession ill die down.

So for the moment she is on ignore. Ill review in a week to see if she has recovered a little.

Um, COPD is a disease of the lungs. How you can diagnose physical illness from my posts is something I'd love to hear about. (And no, I do not have COPD.)

Shutting your unjustifiably bombastic trap for a spell is the best idea you have come up with since you've been here. You're getting to be about as popular as a bacon and egg sandwich in a synagogue with your imagined wiseacre but entirely witless repartee, Irving.
