What makes a moderate less likely to lie than someone who is not a moderate?

It's more accurate to suggest that the more that a viewpoint clashes with reality, the more its supporters will lie to support it. American conservatives are extremely well-acquainted with this state of being, as there is virtually no popular conservative viewpoint which correlates to reality. In our country, it's not a balance between extremists on the right and extremists on the left, because there are many more extremists on the right, and they are far more extremely on the right. There is nothing even remotely like the Tea Party in terms of size and influence on the left. Proponents of full-on communism are extremely rare, whereas the enemies of American democracy are in a heated battle to take over the GOP from the RINOs.

Perhaps it makes me an extremist to say that, but the party which is behind virtually every effort to restrict voting rights to the people who agree with them is the Republican party. Though obviously not 100% the same, there is a terrifying symmetry between the Tea Party vision and another vision, the mention of which would draw cries of "Godwin!", the most important exception being that the Tea Party has the fatal flaw of lacking any meaningful youth appeal and will die along with the old racist, sexist, homophobic fucks that form its core.

I don't think anyone is really disagreeing here. It's just that, who cares? Most of us already know that politics and lies are blood brothers. Well, except for maybe the moderates as CapnAwesome pointed out. They're slow to catch on. Moderates usually seem to be more shocked than others when they finally realize the guy they voted for is the liar he always has been.

I am not sure about that. I think US conservatives are more correct in a small number of areas.

Certainly the US political fulcrum is well to the right of Europe so in that respect you are correct but even taking that into account even the extremists in a US context on the left seem to lie a lot too. The left's main areas of lying tend to be about portraying the USA as being responsible for all of the evil in the world, pretending that every event is ultimately the fault of the USA, lying and then lying about and suppressing research into the 'nature' side of human behavior especially when it comes to Sexual differences. I also find the left of US politics as racist as the Conservative right is (athough the left choses to redefine racism so it is not applicable to its favoured minorities) and like the conservative wish to have their religious nonsense taught in schools the left try to teach pseudo history especially when racial issues are brought into the equation.

I am well aware of the tea party vs the Rinos (although frankly the Rinos bear far more resemblance to trad Republican values than the tea party does)

I think you are referring to a couple of states who demand proof of identity to vote..something pretty standard in most countries. However this has nothing to do with lying but it is clearly an attempt to exclude the lumpen proletariat from voting.

I see very little symmetry. Unpleasant as American conservatives can be they are not neo fascists. They are (with some obvious social exceptions) pro small government and into interventionist economics whilst the Corparativism of the fascist state is completely alien to the USA (please don't fall into the trap of equivocating corporativism with what is now known as Corporatism. they are very different Ideas).
