RE: Bloody poll: would you worship a God whose existence was certain?

Two words need defining before I can answer the question.
What is "worship"?
What is "God"?
Am I to presume that you are using definitions found in the bible?
If so, then I'm afraid the scope is too narrow for any detailed response on my part.
In that case I'd give a simple "no" response to the question.

Reality explains simply that both good shit and bad shit happen. Postulate some sort of master magical puppeteer who did not have to set things up this way, but still did, can only be considered inept or malicious.

You'd not do it, and rather be tortured? For real? Son of a bitch might not deserve my worshipin', but I certainly don't want to be tortured. Sounds cowardly, but meh. I'm not afraid to admit that if this were to actually happen, I'd be scared for my eternal life!

...but! So far, I'm pretty sure there is no god. Sooooooooo... fuck it. I must be clear, though, if there was a god, I'd be pretty darn pissed at the son of a bitch. I just don't find a point in trying to make myself feel all muscular and shit by thinking I'd be brave enough to encounter a lava lake and jump.
Pointing around: "Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you, you're cool, fuck you, I'm out!"

If omniscient, then definitely malicious.

I wonder that too. I don't think it is an activity I engage in or know from experience. I adore my pets, family and some of my friends. But I don't worship them .. well, okay, maybe my old dog Fletcher .. a little .. but, naw, he was really just a drinking buddy in dog form.
With no experience bestowing worship I'm really at a loss to judge when I might want to start worshiping something. If all I wanted to do was avoid its wrath, I might consider how to appease it. But I'm not tossing any salad here, nor sacrificing any goats or .. well .. just what does worship consist of exactly?

How do you know Satan isn't actually a nice guy? The only evidence of that is the bible, which is supposedly written by god & god could be lying.

What about that demon under your bed? Or the boogy in the closet? Next thing you know the elves at the bottom of the garden will be shaking us down for spare worship.

For that matter, if god's henchman Satan did torture you, how do you know you wouldn't like it? Maybe he is really good at laying that lash down in just the right spot. It might hurt so good you start worshiping Satan (what ever that means).

I'm down. Lets worship all night then.
That was weird, I commented after K but it posted before. Is this an omen? Oh dear God, you knew we were only kidding, right?

When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura
