Bloody poll: would you worship a God whose existence was certain?
#21
RE: Bloody poll: would you worship a God whose existence was certain?
Eh what? Obviously only thinking about dancing naked invokes the internet gods/demons.. Big Grin
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

I've always imagined something awesome like Phillip pullman's battle at the end of the dark materials trilogy, of species and aliens of all kinds from all dimensions standing up to the imposter that would be god.

So no, I doubt I'd 'worship" this 'god', if it were real.

I was actually thinking about a damned site more than just dancing. But yes that does seem to have irked the internet gods. (Fuck em.)

Yeh it seems logical to worship god if he is proven without a doubt to exist, I don't know how you would prove it though still.

He wouldn't have any explaining to do, he's god, his brain compared to mine would be like mine compared to an ants I'd imagine so I wouldn't question him.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.

Hold your horses, G'Kar! Big Grin
If humans were made in god's image, shouldn't he be somewhat humanoid, with a brain like ours, or is he like Stewie and made a really shitty clone of us..? Thinking

Getting naked and dancing under the full moon? Big Grin

I'm pretty sure I can get behind that kind of worship.

I think if god was proven you would have no choice but to acknowledge that fact. However worshipping someone is a little different if you worship a being you are decidedly saying that they are inferior to yourself and that you are going to agree with everything that that being believes is right or wrong, therefore removing your own opinions about life and sacrificing your free will. Nothing should be worshipped.

Fuck the man

If the christian god is real, however you slice it you're going to end up with eternal torture.

It's either going to be eternity worshipping the ultimate asshole or eternity burning in hell. They both suck, at least you preserve your dignity in one option. Anyway, it's all hypothetical isn't it, humans aren't made for eternity. We'd all go crazy.

The thing about eternal punishment is that it, by definition, affords the one suffering it enough time to get over the pain and work through a solution for it. Infinite time means plenty of time to, maybe, cook up an escape plan. Devil
