Slavery in all contexts is wrong. Religious, chattel, economic.

Just because it still exists today doesn't mean it is okay, nor does it justify the Bible promoting the ownership of other human beings as property.

Besides which, in this country, it is the Christian right which is either directly involved in, or enabling, poverty wages, economic inequality, and that's to say nothing of what they're doing through outsourcing. If we want to define slavery more broadly, we have to also bear in mind that Christians are every bit as guilty of perpetrating that evil as they ever were.

If you don't worship God/Jesus you go to hell.

Satan punishes those in hell (because they didn't worship God/Jesus).

Why? Surely Satan will be waiting for you to give you a pat on the back for rejecting God as he did? What is Satan punishing you for exactly? Does Satan want you to worship God afterall?

Slavery should be scrutinized dissected and every case being discussed reviewed, so we can understand it and our collective roles in and benefiting from slavery. Not turn off our minds at the first mentioning of the word and run from it.

So no to answer your question in a word. Not all slavery is bad. Modern day slaves in places like china and Mexico who have sold themselves and their families to corporations and industry (that we western consumers keep in business by buying products) eek out a living by what little they are given.. And it is because you and people like you who default to stereotypes and believe slaves either build pyramids or pick cotton, are the cause and reason modern day slaves have it so badly. You people believe your self righteousness has ended slavery, but it hasn't. All anyone has to do is work outside your stereotypical understanding of what a slave is and they are not slave owners. It is your unwillingness to scrutinize and examine each example of slavery as it comes up that allows the people who work for less than a survive able wage, thus forcing every member of the family to work just to survive.

Not every instance of slavery is bad, and if we learn to accept it we could then look to regulate it as the bible/God saw fit to do.

If you don't know that slavery in the biblical context is wrong then you are sick.
You take everything situation and call it slavery in an attempt to water it down and say it's not always bad. I guess you think having a 9-5 job is slavery.
If someone forcefully takes you, claims ownership of you, and makes you do whatever they want with little to no regard of you or your wishes then that is wrong. Agree or disagree?

Working 9to5 can be a form of slavery depending on whether or not the person working those hours has to be there or not. Besides that I was not talking about the people in this country. I was talking about people who live in unregulated countries who companies can literally work a person to death with little to no compensation. This is the face of modern slavery. One that you support when you buy cheap goods now at a prices at or below what you could when they were being produced domestically at a fair wage 20 years ago.

If you want to seriously talk about slavery lets look at your involvement and support of it today, because your refuse to look past the stereotypes you feel comfortable with. Because you hold on to your stereotyped narrow mind view of slavery people are living and working in conditions as bad if not worse than the type of cotton picking slavery you only wish to discuss. You are willing to let this happen because modern slaves are people willing to wait for years to sell themselves and their families to these manufacturing companies, rather than being put on a sailing ship and sent half way around the world.

I say slavery is not an intrinsically bad thing if it is regulated and controlled. Why? Because everyone cant be a doctor or a lawyer, and I do not believe that a communist nor a socialist society has a very good chance of working. Couple that with society needs products and we need them cheaply enough to not just sustain ourselves but to grow as well. This means someone is going to have to do the kind of work that does not pay very well, which means their lives will have to be sustained or supplemented with other forms of compensation. And as a manufacturer is indeed benefiting the most from 'slave labor' they, not the state should be made to subsidize or augment their slave laborers with either housing, medical or some combination of their needs so they can live and work without getting deeper and deeper into debt to the company. That is the current model of how things work, because people like you would rather have their goods and feelings of superiority afforded by narrow mindedly identify slavery as something that happened in the past and is always bad.

Wake up princess, slavery is alive and well and because you and people like you rather hold on to their ideals than address their dependence on a slave labor force that is supporting their mod con lives, because of this you allow whole house holds to give themselves over to slave laborers without any over site or regulation. Why? Because you refuse to identify the source of your life style as having its foundations firmly grounded in slavery.. Just so you can maintain your arrogance when a Christian defends what the bible has to say about regulating slavery.

Honestly. Blaming us for wage slavery and outsourcing when it is he and those like him responsible for that. Business owners didn't outsource jobs to third-world countries after asking everybody's opinions about the benefits. They did so because of their own greed, making the rest of Americans poorer and poorer to the point where they are dependent on what they make. The party which most supports this practice is the one laden with the loudest Christians like a backed-up toilet.
