RE: Super Bowl commercials
I remember wondering if it's illegal to show same race couples/familees in commercials anymore.

Black guy, white (ish) woman mulato little girl... All represented by 3 white Cheerios..

This was a little all a little too insensitive for me.

They should have used multi grain Cheerios.

Brown for the dad, white for mom, and the tan ones for the kids.

Spit Coffee
That was the intended response..

Fair enough.

Were they actually advertising the multigrain? That could be a reason.

They were using the orginal. I was saying this would have been ideal spot for multi grain

I did not see any of them. Too lazy and disinterested to view them online, as well.

If they really wanted to promote diversity, they'd have used Fruity Pebbles.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

I really don't want to belabour this and clog up the thread, but while you may have a point, if the intention of the advertisers was to advertise the original variety of this product, they can hardly be blamed for not including a variety that you or anyone else thinks they could have or should have used instead.

Apparently right-wing whack jobs are shitting bricks over the Coke ad.

http://truth-out.org/opinion/item/21667-...-freak-out

Quote:Here's a clip of the commercial if you need a refresher.

Pretty innocuous, right? Well, not for many conservatives.

They are outraged, and I mean outraged that Coca Cola would dare "tarnish" a patriotic American anthem with foreign languages.

Quote:All jokes aside, though, the fiasco that was the conservative reaction to Coke's Super Bowl ad is symbolic of a bigger issue: the Republican Party has become the last refuge of bigots.

And for the retort to the douchebags....

I don't get the big deal...

I'm with you on this one. Can you imagine some major sporting event in Europe where people would be talking about the commercials?

"Did you see the FA Cup final?"
"Yeah that advert for snot-balls on toast was brilliant!"

Some things stay on that side of the pond.
