Super Bowl commercials

RE: Super Bowl commercials
I kind of ignored the commercials, but I liked the Twitter reparte between JC Penney and Doritos. Doritos FTW!

You know you're in a hyped consumer society when you celebrate commercials.

For a time, the Super Bowl was where advertisers went all out creatively, in the hopes of making an impression on what is usually the largest viewing audience of the year. There were usually at least two or three ads that were funny or otherwise memorable enough that you actually bothered to watch the commercials. The last few years it has dried up, IMO. Maybe the ads of the past increased expectations or maybe we're coming to realize that they're just ads, or maybe I'm just getting older.

But we've been a rabid consumer society for a very long time, so much so that we're probably still rabidly consuming even though that age has passed us and we really should be saving.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Black guy, white (ish) woman mulato little girl... All represented by 3 white Cheerios..

This was a little all a little too insensitive for me.

They should have used multi grain Cheerios.

Brown for the dad, white for mom, and the tan ones for the kids.

I paid almost no attention to the commercials. Here's what I remember...

Why the fuck is maserati playing a commercial on TV? Aren't they above that? Who the hell is being persuaded to buy a maserati during the Super bowl?

A couple movies that got me excited. The new transformers looks cool, and Noah with Russell crowe looks fucking awesome.
The Tim Tebow commercial made me laugh. I liked the VW engineer wings one too.

Were they actually advertising the multigrain? That could be a reason.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'
