Here's a little "non-change" that I think has been swept under the rug:
I was born into a Catholic family, went to Catholic elementary school, was an altar boy (and, no, I was never abused, just lucky I guess), etc., etc. I recall a time in the early 1960's when I was about 6 or 7 years old, my parents and teachers ("nuns") told us that we had to stop ending prayers with "in the name of the father, the son, and the holy ghost". We were instructed to say "holy spirit" instead. I believe that may have started my path towards atheism.
I guess someone in the Vatican must have realized how idiotic it sounded to have the "faithful" talking about "holy ghosts". Yes, how fucking idiotic is that, referring to part of the "trinity" as a "ghost"? Of course, that's what was said for about 19 centuries before someone figured out how stupid it was. And now, every christian jackass walks around talking about the "holy spirit", when they don't even realize that until just recently, it was a ghost.
