There probably aren't much evidence in the wreck that could change our understanding of the main events.
It seems more likely the insurgents are removing the bodies in a show for the locals that they are the civil administration in charge, and also in a somewhat amateurish attempt to control media coverage, prevent grisly images of shrapnel wounds on the bodies from being used against them for publicity purposes in the west, and also possibly a cynical attempt to hold the bodies hostage so the Dutch would put pressure on the rest of the west to not be too strident in condemning Russia or the separatists, in order that the family would get the bodies back.
The news report stating the wreckage were spread over 15 square kilometers, and most of the bodies were intact. This suggests to me the plane broke apart at high altitude and many bodies were ejected and free fell to the ground. If the plane come down more or less in one piece, the wreckage would be concentrated and bodies enclosed within would be shattered by the violence of the aircraft's collision with the ground, and burned in the fire as the entire aircraft's fuel load catches fire.
