RE: Should Churches Remain Tax-Exempt?

I heard this this recently about Germany, where people had to state their religious beliefs. If they said a religion, some of their wages went to that religion. If they said no religion, they keep their money. When they brought this in, guess what happened? A lot of people suddenly decided their faith wasn't worth the money. Hah.

Yeah, clearly people are not finding that "God provides".
He doesn't provide shit. Other people, or yourself, provide things and you insist on attributing credit to Mr magic pants.

Send some Muslim preachers into all the Christian places, maybe they'll get the hint then.

Maybe we should reply to "I'll pray for you" with "That's great. If you want to actually do something, that would be even better."

If they paid for it, sure. It would be like any other sponsorship, and various denominations could compete for the best spots to display their icons and sacred texts. I mean, the local City Hall doesn't put up posters of the latest Mazda sedan just because the dealership pays taxes, after all.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."
