This kind of story doesn't even exist here in Europe. No paper would print something hinting at the supernatural. Maybe some colored toilet paper when it's at it's yellowest.

And I can only ask again. Why should this get any credit? I don't know how many babies die of preventable causes each and every day, so why should one single first world baby in it's comfy backseat of a car warrant Guardian Angel emergency service?

That cannot be answered without resorting to spiritual Houdinianism.

So please explain.

Given what little information I have, how could I?

But just remember that my inability to offer an explanation doesn't make yours any more plausible, and claiming this is god's work makes him look incompetent. The angel let the car go off the road, let the mother die in front of the child and then waited fourteen hours while the child hung upside down with her head inches from water before doing anything. If guarding was the job, the angel gets a D- on his/her performance review.

But who's to say this wasn't the voice of Satan? How do you know God didn't judge this woman and child wicked and intended to off them both, only to be fooled by his arch nemesis? Besides the fact he doesn't exist, I mean...

White folk have privileges, damn it. One of those privileges is that when we drive into a creek, lake, pond, or other body of water, we can rely upon an angel to show up at the emergency scene after the rescuers, and make for a great internet story.

If you're brown and don't own a car, tough shit. You'll have to be happy with your well not running dry, or an extremist not kidnapping your only child ... you know, small stuff.

That's good because that is not what is being discussed. Because the voice heard was not heard at a rescue scene, it was heard at a low stress grizzley salvage scene. It did not become a rescue scene till the voice was heard.
Quote:Your completely unjustified assertion that the voice belonged to a guardian angel is what's problematic with this story, and that's truly something that doesn't fit with the FACTS of reality.
Where have you been? I have conceeded the term 'Gaurdian angel' for "disembodied voice" like in my second post. Lax, if youre going to red herring your way into a conversation at least make sure it hasn't already been done.

Quote: You can grandstand all you like, but in truth you're just doing what you always do, and are arguing from ignorance: pointing at a mystery- more likely either someone else at the scene asking for help in an unrelated task or an auditory hallucination, which is the kind of thing that happens every day- and assuming that it's what you want it to be, because you said so, isn't much of a position.

But hey, you go back to being a complete slimeball, as I've seen from reading the rest of the thread. That's more your speed than producing accurate observations about reality. Dodgy

As apposed to what your accurate observation about this thread?
I guess there is a good reason I have taken to calling you 'Lax.' Wink

Tyler is a strange name for a guardian angel...I think.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

In most other instances (aliens, bigfoot), people go through a progression of natural explanations first and discount the far-fetched claim. However, when one makes a claim that a god or angel is "watching over" a person or that they heard an angel talk to them, everyone nods in agreement. Never mind the fact that in this case, the voice could have been a last gasp from the dying mother, or another person in the rescue effort, or an on looker, or etc. etc. etc. To me it speaks to a sort of desperation to find anything at all to justify a belief. Why can't individuals just be happy the child is alive and sad that the mother died instead of always trying to link some fanciful claim to whatever god they happen to believe.

you didn't read the atical did you, yet you thought you somehow knew enough to contribute... seem like Atheism 101 applied to the rest of life.. Good job!

Yeah, it's too bad that mommy had to drown. Thats the trick with guardian angels, they can't really help until someone calls them to the scene...even then, shit happens.

1) The mom had slowly frozen to death but she still couldn't leave her baby. So when finally people came close her spirit called out to them as desperately as she might have wanted to while she was still alive. That was the final cry of a loving mother.

2) The woman knew what she had with her was not something that belonged to this earth, but was more sinister. She plunged the car in the water as the final attempt to escape the devil's spawn, but she failed. The demon was finally free, it called out to the nearby humans for now it was time to venture outside...

Besides, what's the point in shouting for help when people are already trying to save her?

again no one was trying to save her. she was appearently mutliated because the story says they knew by looking at her she was long dead.

Intresting theories though.

These fucking angels nowadays ... what a bunch of slackers.

ETA: I'm sure there were no other sounds at the time which could not be mistaken for a woman's voice. None at all. I'm positive of it.

Well, at least Drich is. Me, I think there are plenty of ambient noises that could be mistaken for a human voice -- I've heard one or two, in the form of birds, before.

Gabriel appeared to Mary so that god could get her pregnant. Why wouldn't the angel pop into the police station and tell the rescuers to save the baby?

Why did Drich jump to the idea of a guardian angel anyway? The article doesn't say angel, it just says a voice. Among all the illogical things that could be believed, the folklore around a mother's ghost seems to fit the story more than an angel. I don't believe in ghosts, by the way and think that there is a more logical explanation but the mythology of ghosts seems to fit the story better than the mythology of guardian angels. Hell, a water spirit fits the story better than what religion has taught us about guardian angels. Drich, maybe you should become a Shintoist now.
