Wake up jesus didn't die for your sins

Quote:the authentic ones of which are near universally dated to the 50s by scholars (i.e. a couple of decades after Jesus death). Not sure where the 1600 comes from.

Again, the inflating of pious blather into "evidence."  Where is the "evidence" for this claim?  The paul-shit seems to appear in the record in the wake of Marcion's (c 140 CE) "heresy."  Before that, no one ever heard of him....in spite of a few attempts to write him in to later forgeries.

What he did die for is this.

1. challenged the status quo
2. he made people in power
3. He was a heretic

All in all OT is still in the court so you better pick that ball up and drop the NT.

What are you talking about?

Everything about jesus and his sacrafice is hersay. He was just some ordinary dude
who died challenging the Roman authority at the time and the Jews at the time.
All he did as piss off people and he gotten killed for it or not because well. Because well...
you could survive Roman crucifixion and more than likely he probably did and after that he was like
these people i'm gone.

Is it a coincidence that heresy sounds very similar to hearsay?

Ah I wasn't criticizing, I just thought it was funny. If people don't believe hearsay, it's heresy. If they start their own new hearsay, it's heresy.

Everything to do with religion is hearsay and heresy.

I would agree that he challenged the status quo, annoyed those in power, and his views would have appeared heretical to many.

So my question to you would be this...what do you think he was saying that got him on the wrong side of so many important people, and was bad enough to get him executed?

If the story about disrupting the money changing in the temple is true, then that would have probably been sufficient justification. I believe the Romans were taking money from the Temple to build an aqueduct at some point (I can't remember if this was around 30 AD). Maybe Jesus' criticism of the temple money changers was also a criticism of Temple money going to the Romans.

There is probably more to the story than we see in the gospels IMO.

Probably stuff they took out about naughty things Jesus did. Actually, I'm pretty sure they did. I remember someone posting something about a non-canon book where Jesus killed someone as a kid.

Unless I'm losing my last marble.

Someone wake me up when any of this can be relevant to the idea that Mr. Christ is/was god.

There is a Gospel of Thomas, which has it that jesus was never human and had been doing goddy things all his life.

Here is something somewhat similar from the Infancy Gospel of Thomas:
Quote:  3 1 While he was going from there with his father Joseph, a child running tore into his shoulder. And Jesus said to him, “You shall no longer go our way.” And instantly he died. At once the people, seeing that he was dead, cried out and said, “Where was this boy born that his word becomes a deed?”
