Have You Ever Cursed God?

I sound insane.  Big Grin

I am insane.   Wacky

That actually sounds pretty entertaining. I was an actor for 12 years (6-18), and I always practiced accents above all else. Hell, when I am bored, I am known to talk to myself in different accents. I tell myself it is to keep practicing so I can maintain my skills…but maybe I am just mental.

Technically no. But I do enjoy taking the names of other people's gods in vain.

In Latin America and Spain they do this all the time without noticing.
They use the phrase "ojala" whenever they wish for something, and it literally means "and may allah will it".

Depends on what you mean. If you're talking about a goddammit type of thing, then yes. If you mean specifically cursing a god, then no, not that I can recall.

I'd be quite happy to do it in front of a bunch of theists if they wanted me to, just to show no one is listening.

I don't see a problem with it. It's sort of a metaphorical way of directing anger at the universe for being uncaring.

I have never cursed God, why should I? If he's there it would be a mistake, if he's not why bother. Uncaring? The universe simply doesn't care one way or the other, it's completely neutral.

By the way I am so so sorry about that other 'fall' thread. I really did want to get involved, as I said I would, but it just looked way over my head. It wasn't anything against you at all - it was very nice of you to come and say hello in my intro thread and it was a pleasure to meet you  Smile
Oh fuck the holy spirit. If I don't believe in Jesus or Yahweh, what's the point in believing in the holy spirit?  Blaspheming the hs is about as irrelevant as saying fuck the purple turkey. To hell with the tooth fairy. And if some fat dude comes down my chimney in red pj's I will shoot his ass.

For years after I left Christianity I had recurrent nightmares of being left in the rapture. I recognized that my mind was just replaying the scenes the  church programed me to feel. So I told my mind to stop doing that to me because I would not be frightened into believing stuff I knew was not true. You can speak to your mind and bring your feelings in line with your will.

I enjoyed talking with you, too. No need to apologize.
The god who allows children to be raped out of respect for the free will choice of the rapist, but punishes gay men for engaging in mutually consensual sex couldn't possibly be responsible for an intelligently designed universe.

I may defend your right to free speech, but i won't help you pass out flyers.

Those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities.

It was an important step that I should have taken ten years ago or more. I already feel different just after one day. I feel better and I don't think I'm going to have nightmares about it so perhaps I was further along than I thought. What is this "rapture" you're talking about? That's the second time I've heard that word this week but never before.

"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Poor Job. God made his wife self-fertile.
