RE: How many Atheist are also vote Republican from time to time?
Wikipedia say:

Quote:Conservatism as a political and social philosophy promotes retaining traditional social institutions in the context of the culture and civilization. Some conservatives seek to preserve things as they are, emphasizing stability and continuity, while others, called reactionaries, oppose modernism and seek a return to "the way things were".[1][2] The first established use of the term in a political context originated with François-René de Chateaubriand in 1818,[3] during the period of Bourbon restoration that sought to roll back the policies of the French Revolution. The term, historically associated with right-wing politics, has since been used to describe a wide range of views. There is no single set of policies that are universally regarded as conservative, because the meaning of conservatism depends on what is considered traditional in a given place and time
I'm pretty sure religion itself is a traditional institution. You can be an atheist, but being openly against religion is, conservative-wise, the equivalent of being against other conservative institutions like marriage.

Yes, you calling it conservative doesn't make it conservative. By your definition, any idea can be considered conservative as long as it's moderate and thoughtful. Christian views needn't be conservative as there are liberal Christians - But social conservatism means preserving social institutions as they are or with little change or only necessary change - So yeah, the average Christian is socially conservative. We are all to some degree, some more than others.

Generally, I wouldn't vote for a Republican. They oppose universal child care, progressive taxes, health reform, national education standards, LGBT rights, and so forth.
#FeelTheBern? Then get out there and volunteer on progressive campaigns, get appointed to government committees, join your local political party, and consider running for office. In order to push for change, you must participate in the political process.
