It's sick. Funny how 'the truth' could not survive without it.

Let's see if your memory is better than mine.  You don't exist and you are evil and something else.  What was that something else?

Yes. Religious morality is bullshit, and it makes no sense at all. I'm planning a video about this subject.

Indoctrination is evil. I wish there was some way to get parents to understand the potential harm and to stop doing it. Why do you need to? If it's true, why are you jamming it in before you child can think? That shows a suspicious lack of confidence in the message to me.

Christians (no offense, Catholic_Lady, but this is what I think in principle) keep talking about "morality" (which is questionable anyway) but there's nothing moral in brainwashing kids against their will. Kids are young and naive and believe everything the grown ups say because supposedly the grown ups don't lie. Which makes the kids the perfect subjects for manipulation and brainwashing. They're too young to be able to decide what to believe and what not to and for this brainwashing them with religion is as bad as physically raping them. Altough IMO raping their brains is worse because time will heal the physical trauma but time can not heal the mental trauma of brainwashing and that kid will remain a blind and narrow-minded fanaticized idiot for the rest of its life.

:Roflol:

So when 'we/you' tell them being gay is ok, being transgender is normal, that if you don't feel warm and fuzzy about your marriage partner anymore it is on to divorce them.. that is not brain washing? If No.. then how is telling them the oppsite 'brain washing?'

I guess you reall havn't thought this through huh? Because no matter how you raise a child it could be coonsidered 'brain washing' to someone who does not agree with your way of life. The question then becomes is it always a bad thing? or is it just a bad thing when YOU dont agree?

There are real life consquenses to divorce. there are some consequenses to being gay as well (certain diseases are easier spread by that type of sex). Most of us can agree that teaching a child love and respect as well as self esteem are good things. Disiplin is often nesseccary to make a child understand what consequenses of actions can be.
It's also perfectly fine to inform your child of the moral choices you have made and how they have helped you. these are not the problem. Teaching them a fear in something that cannot be shown (ie. a tiger) is the problem.

Why???

the theory of the religious is that if you indoctrinate a child BEFORE the age at which they can understand fantasy from reality then they will most likely take up with YOUR faith. That is true but it is not good.

Again why?

Because if they do not come to the faith with open eyes and of their own violation then they will become the kind of Christians that you see today. they will only be Christians to be in the "club" of their peers but as far as the moral teachings and moral actions that the "good" Christian is supposed to be known for.... they have none of it. If their only reason to be Christian is "fear" because you taught them to fear Hell, they will not be worthy of Heaven.

Sure there are few that are raised and then become real and honest christians but i do say only a few. I also put forth the idea that some people such as Cathol_Lady would have been good spiritual people no matter what faith they were raised in.

Of course she would. Part of the con is making people believe the religion actually did something.

As well as programming your child with falsehoods, it's been shown to also make them less capable of distinguishing fact from fiction in general. They are more likely to believe other things for bad reasons.

Judging by your writings, I'm sure you tell your kid having a black skin is not ok either. Black people are also different from the masses which automatically makes them evil.
You may cry about LGBT as much as you like but there's one major difference between religion and LGBT community - the latter doesn't threaten kids with eternal pain in the fires of hell when the kid doesn't accept different sexuality. Suuure, frightening kids is so much healthier to them! Not to mention that some kids do take it seriously and that brain damages them for life.

A question - When is it not brainwashing and indoctrination?

Answer - When you agree with the doctrine...

Am I lying? Tongue

We are all morally guilty - Those who don't believe are still influenced by the predominant religion, and we all believe more or less what our society teaches us, or our parents. I don't think believing what your parents taught you is much better than believing what god told you to do, even though the latter probably doesn't exist - You're still following orders.

Sure, some of our bias is going to come off. I would hope good parents would try to minimize this, and raise children who think for themselves as much as possible. If you have good ideas to pass on, you should be able to do so in a reasoned manner, after giving them the tools they need in order to think. Jamming a load of shit up their arse knowing they haven't reached this stage is the problem. I could easily argue religion is not suitable for children anyhow. Trying to compare Jesus to "that will burn your hand" is about as false as an equivalence can get.

But I suppose I'm talking about people who see the world in pretty much the opposite way to me.

Education. Educating parents. It's the most humane way of dealing with stuff.
