I know a lot of conservative religious people who practice a more authoritarian type of parenting. If you are brought up in a family with strict hierarchy where you, as the child, are on the bottom of the family then it is probably easier and more comforting to be part of a similar religion when you grow up. If your parents make all your decisions when you are a child, maybe that creates adults who don't want to make their own choices. So, a woman from such a family might gravitate toward a relationship where her husband had more control over her life.

Pretty sad, isn't it? Making the child feel worthless right from the start. Thankfully I never had to experience that.

Not to forget the fuckheads perpetuating the tale. They're even worse in my book, since they don't have the excuse of belonging to a mostly illiterate group of half nomadic Iron Age goat fuckers.

I was thinking about this today. After listening to an awful lot of religious people, I get the impression that some of them feel the need for authority. Someone must be in charge, tell them what to do, and have the final say. They seem uncomfortable with being in control of their own life and decisions. It makes sense that this could be a hangover from childhood. I know my childhood still affects me.

It's true that some people need structure and someone else's opinions/decisions to help them out and keep their head straight. That's what subbing is for girls.

Im just saying that I need for Authority is not bad. Expressing the need for authority in an unhealthy way is. Expressing the need for authority in an unhealthy way is a bad thing. Some people are naturally happy serving (myself included), but a need to please shouldn't turn you into a doormat, or put you in abusive situations.
