Something else he noodled out;

the gravitational field of the sun is very strong, especially close to it, and it represents a great deal of energy. If the mass equivalent of that energy is added to the mass of the sun (IOW, the sun's gravitational field is a bit stronger due to this effect than what Isaac Newton would have calculated), then the resulting slightly stronger gravity of the sun explains an 'odd' minor effect noticed previously in the orbit of Mercury around the sun.
 The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.
